Housing that is affordable to individuals and families at all income levels should not be limited to only certain neighborhoods. CFGA believes that mixed income housing is foundational to ensuring that everyone has access to good schools for their kids, quality jobs, and robust greenspace and parks. This is why we are so proud to be partnering with Pennrose to support the development of 102 affordable apartment homes for households between 30% and 80% of area median income in Roswell. Located in Roswell’s historic downtown, residents will have access to both great amenities and the many benefits that come from being located in a higher opportunity neighborhood. Learn more below.

At CFGA, we know and believe that every child deserves the chance to start strong — and that begins with access to quality early childhood education. Head Start and Early Head Start programs not only prepare children for kindergarten, they also provide wraparound supports — from nutritious meals and health screenings to parental engagement and workforce stability. For thousands of low-income working families, these programs are a lifeline, a lifeline at risk at this very moment due to the government shutdown. Over 5,500 children and their families, the most in the nation, would have been without a provider as early as next week, and the ripple effects would have been devastating. Children would have been deprived of a safe place to learn and their families from the possibility to go to work and provide for themselves. "While philanthropy has a role different from the federal government, these are uncertain times, and our priority is to respond to critical community needs, especially when a lack of action would have meant the imminent shutdown of the programs and thousands of working families, teachers, business and neighborhoods impacted," said Frank Fernandez, President and CEO of CFGA. Thanks to our community of donors and funding partners GEEARS: Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students, YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta, Sheltering Arms Early Education and Family Centers and Easterseals North Georgia, Inc., we have been able to provide an $8M bridge loan to ensure families and nonprofit partners can sustain their operations temporarily. This means paying the electricity bill, salaries and being able to provide food for the children in the program. We know this is a temporary reprieve, but a needed one as we collectively continue to push our elected leadership to end the federal government shutdown. Click the article below to learn more.
