We were proud to host the TGH Cardiovascular Imaging Center of Excellence’s Second Annual CV Imaging Symposium, titled "Innovations in Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI," where experts from our TGH Heart & Vascular Institute and USF Health Morsani College of Medicine joined leading voices in the field to explore the latest advancements in cardiac imaging. Shone Almeida, MD, FACC led the conference, alongside a distinguished group of presenters and contributors including Dr. Aarti Patel, Dr. Alex Sarau, Dr. Jad Mroue, Dr. Nidhi Patel, and Dr. Robby Wu. Together, they helped drive discussions on emerging technologies, evolving best practices and the future of cardiac care. We’re proud to recognize our 9A2 Nursing and PCT team for an incredible milestone in patient safety! This team has gone five years without a bloodstream infection from a central line (CLABSI) and one year without a urinary tract infection related to a catheter (CAUTI), both preventable conditions that can have serious impacts on patients. When a rare and life-threatening complication called an amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) struck during childbirth, Kamren's survival depended on the rapid response and advanced expertise of her care team at Tampa General Hospital. Backed by the resources of the region's only academic health system, collaboration and innovation were key in saving her life. Five months ago, 10-year-old Leah Lendel was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital after a shark attack left her hand barely attached. At the region's only Level 1 Trauma Center for adults and children, our surgical team, with experts from our partners at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute, was proud to play a part in her remarkable recovery, including the six-hour operation to reattach her hand. Nick Paul and Jonas Johansson, stars from the Tampa Bay Lightning, recently spent time with our team at the TGH Cancer Institute, and ThunderBug made sure the visit felt like game-day energy from start to finish!
