On November 3rd at our 12u Fall Baseball Championship Game, Kevin Kale was presented with the Service of Excellence Award to acknowledge his dedication. After 15 consecutive seasons as a very crucial member of the St. Andrew's community, Kevin is retiring from being a baseball umpire. It is not often you hear the word umpire and beloved in the same sentence. Anyone who crossed paths with him over the years knows how special of a human being he is. He would never let a coaches' meeting end without a laugh, would entertain parents in between innings, and would instruct the players on the finer rules of the game. He dedicated himself to keeping the game fair, a task that goes unnoticed when done perfectly. While the players changed, his steadfast presence provided consistency at the park by preserving the integrity of the game night after night. He will continue to be a part of our athletic department's community in other capacities and will serve in emergency situations.
