At Smithfield Foods, we are deeply committed to strengthening our communities by ensuring access to nutritious protein and helping fight hunger where we live and work. This year, we proudly contributed 32,000 pounds of protein to the 29th Annual Mayflower Marathon Holiday Food and Fund Drive, supporting both the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank and the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore.

Smithfield Foods has partnered with Festival Foods to donate more than 34,000 pounds of protein to Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and St. Joesph Food Program in Menasha, Wisconsin. The donation will provide support to thousands of neighbors facing food insecurity as the need intensifies during the holiday season.

Smithfield Foods recently participated in this year’s Luter Connect event, hosted by the Christopher Newport University (CNU) Luter School of Business. President & CEO Shane Smith offered a keynote reflecting on the legacy of former Smithfield Chairman Joe Luter III and our company’s remarkable journey from a regional pork producer to a global food company while Smithfield's Justin Hardwick, vice president of supply planning and a 2006 CNU graduate, was recognized for his contributions to the school and his service on the Luter School of Business Board of Advisors. Events like Luter Connect underscore the importance of leadership, innovation and community partnerships in shaping the next generation of business leaders—priorities that remain central to Smithfield Foods.

Today, we are proudly to celebrating Dr. Jeremy Pittman’s induction into the Virginia Livestock Hall of Fame an honor established in 2009 to recognize Virginians who have made outstanding contributions to the state’s livestock industry and its people. As senior director of U.S. veterinary services for Smithfield, Dr. Pittman has dedicated more than 20 years to advancing swine health operations, leading the veterinary services team and driving innovative, science-based strategies that strengthen herd health, enhance disease prevention and improve food safety across the supply chain. Smithfield Foods is proud to support education in Monmouth, Illinois, where our local facility recently awarded a $3,500 grant to Monmouth-Roseville Community Unit School District 238. Smithfield Foods is proud to support community initiatives like TopSoccer’s Halloween event in Wichita, where our local team donated $2,000 to the Wichita Sporting Group to benefit children with special needs. In addition to the sponsorship, team members attended the event and generously contributed five cases of hot dogs, helping fuel the fun and festivities for all participants.
