A Better Building Experience.

About us

At Shawmut Design and Construction, we promise our clients a better building experience. As an award-winning construction management firm, we are dedicated to outperforming expectations every day—a responsibility we take seriously as employee-owners and a promise we make to each one of our partners. Right from the start—all the way to the ribbon cutting—we promise our clients a building experience that’s the very best. Winning for clients is our passion. We succeed when our clients enjoy the building process as much as the building itself. To be the best, we need to cultivate the best talent. We work to create an inclusive environment where everyone reaches their fullest potential, with a Diversity Leadership Council driving our journey toward diversity, equity, and inclusion. Shawmut is 100% employee-owned which means every employee has a vested interest in the success of the company and the success of our clients’ projects. As part owners through the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), each employee takes pride in being part of a talent-driven and leading-edge organization focused on delivering exceptional client service.

The project touched every aspect of the guest experience, from all 551 guest rooms—including 57 suites and the Premier “Legend Suites”—to 23,000 square feet of meeting space, 19 reimagined boardrooms, the Rooftop Ballroom, and the vibrant lobby. The renovation honors the hotel’s historic character, blending classic elegance with contemporary comforts, and celebrates the landmark’s role in Boston’s cultural and civic history. 🔗 Read more about the transformation here: https://lnkd.in/e5jYHeJc #ShawmutBuilt

  • Breaking ground in August, the team is well underway on Clearline Real Estate’s 2000 Wynwood, a 12-story, 380,000-square-foot mixed-use development that will bring 310 residential units and 12,500 square feet of retail to Wynwood’s walkable, transit-connected corridor. Resident amenities will include an art studio, fitness center, coworking and conference areas, a courtyard with a pool, and multi-functional space to support connection.  The design prioritizes wellbeing, rightsizing, and energy efficiency, offering a modern approach to community living in a vibrant Miami neighborhood. 🔗 Read more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/exy6yQyY  #ShawmutBuilt

  • Every year, our employee-owners dedicate time to give back to their local communities. In addition to building spaces that bring people together, we’re committed to ensuring our impact is felt outside the jobsite. This year, our people supported a range of meaningful causes across the country—including helping children and families in need, addressing food insecurity, and revitalizing community spaces. We’re proud to partner with so many important organizations throughout the year and play a role in advancing their crucial missions this holiday season and beyond. 🔗 Learn more about the organizations we partner with here: https://lnkd.in/gXtjKTQS #ShawmutProud

  • We welcomed The Eagle Academy Foundation to our New York office last week, with team members sharing their career paths, the different opportunities in construction, and the many ways to grow in the industry. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of opening doors and helping the next generation imagine what’s possible. Thank you to all the Eagles for your time, engagement, and interest. #ShawmutProud

  • We were proud to join our partners—including the City of Boston and Sasaki —to celebrate Boston City Hall Plaza being honored with a 2025 Preservation Award from the Boston Preservation Alliance. Once expansive and inaccessible, the plaza has been transformed into a vibrant civic front yard that welcomes all Bostonians—preserving its architectural legacy while introducing thoughtful design updates including accessible promenades, new gathering areas, a reopened North Entry, over 250 new trees and thousands of native plants, and a new civic pavilion. The revitalized plaza reflects a shared commitment to accessibility, sustainability, and community—creating a space designed for everyone. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/e9SaGKjk #ShawmutBuilt #ShawmutProud

  • Congratulations to senior project manager Carolyn Caranante for being named to Professional Women in Construction, New York’s 20 Under 40: Women in Construction. This recognition reflects Carolyn's contributions to the built world, local communities, and the next generation of builders.  Carolyn's project portfolio includes work on some of New York’s most iconic, skyline-shaping buildings, including One World Trade Center, One Manhattan West, One Vanderbilt, 270 Park Avenue, and the Barclays Center. A native New Yorker, Carolyn is committed to giving back to the community in which she was raised, volunteering her time and expertise to organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Build it Back, and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.  #ShawmutProud

  • Brimmer and May's vision for a vibrant hub of wellness and connection is taking shape. We recently celebrated the topping off of the new 26,000-square-foot Recreation and Wellness Center—a facility that will more than double the school’s recreation space and transform the campus experience for students, faculty, and staff. Replacing the original 1972 Thompson Gymnasium, the new center will feature a competition gymnasium with seating for 300, two practice courts, a multipurpose recreation area, a state-of-the-art fitness room, and dedicated spaces for athletic trainers and wellness counselors. Designed to integrate fitness and collaboration, the building is anchored by a light-filled, double-height lobby, flexible classrooms, and a warm façade of wood and metal sunshades that complement the surrounding neighborhood. Together with our partners at Sasaki and Skanska, we’re proud to bring this project to life, advancing Brimmer and May’s commitment to wellness, learning, and community. #ShawmutBuilt
