As we move away from NISQ machines and towards large scale fault-tolerance, we need to prepare richer, more realistic functions on our devices. Like many things in quantum computing, this is a trickier problem than one might think. We teamed up with the Instituto de Física Fundamental in Madrid to push the boundaries of how we prepare complex, high-dimensional functions of quantum hardware. To tackle this, we looked to tensor networks, a favorite tool of ours (https://lnkd.in/dtJsnzAM). Tensor networks are already a powerful tool for efficiently preparing one-dimensional functions on quantum computers. But real-world quantum applications often involve many-dimensional structure: from simulating physical systems to encoding complex probability distributions. Building on previous work, our team developed a new technique called Interpolative Quantum State Preparation (IQSP), designed specifically to handle these harder, multi-dimensional cases. This work will enable us to make strides in areas like quantum simulation, quantum machine learning, optimization and sampling, and even complex signal processing. Earlier this month at the launch of our Helios quantum computer, NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang said, “the future of computing is hybrid: quantum and classical.” That future is already taking shape at #SC25, where hybrid HPC + quantum computing is becoming a central part of the conversation — and Quantinuum showed up in a big way. This week, we highlighted the depth of our collaboration with NVIDIA through several joint initiatives: 🔹 NVIDIA’s announcement on how leading supercomputing centers are adopting #NVQLink™ to integrate the Grace Blackwell platform with quantum processors — including Quantinuum Systems. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ebACAYEq 🔹 A new Quantinuum blog detailing the full scope of our collaborations with NVIDIA across hybrid computing, quantum + AI, and a new GenQAI initiative following the Helios launch. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ePWySyVg 🔹 Hands-on tutorials at our booth featuring Guppy, our new, open-source programming language based on Python, NVIDIA CUDA-Q's integration with Quantinuum Systems, and a new go-to-market offering for on-premise Helios systems paired with NVIDIA GB200. 🔹 Panel participation alongside leaders from NVIDIA and RIKEN on the future of hybrid quantum-classical supercomputing. Momentum toward hybrid quantum-classical AI supercomputing is accelerating — and Quantinuum, with Helios, is at the forefront. Stay tuned!

Can quantum ideas make smaller AI models smarter? In the #LLM era, large models dominate the discourse, but deploying smaller, offline models is increasingly vital for privacy and edge applications. That’s where knowledge distillation comes in: training compact models to mimic larger ones. Our latest work introduces Quantum Relational Knowledge Distillation, a new approach that maps data into quantum states and leverages quantum relationships – like entanglement-inspired structures – to improve the knowledge distillation process. Our research demonstrates that incorporating this quantum information technique into the knowledge distillation process enhances the smaller, ‘student model's’, performance on some widely used benchmark text datasets. This work will be presented at the NeurIPS 2025 UniReps workshop. Read more about this exciting advance here: https://lnkd.in/eZntcwey
