About us
OakBend Medical Center is the last remaining independent, nonprofit hospital in the Greater Houston area, providing exceptional service with its three hospitals and many specialty centers. OakBend follows an innovative model of care that makes the patient the captain of the care team, up-ending the traditional approach to nursing where the doctors and nurses act as leaders of the team. This patient-centered care drives OakBend’s services and programs, including its signature No Wait ER, an advanced trauma center and the Jack and Billie Wendt Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) unit. We remain committed to developing the very best ways to care for our patients, ensuring a healthy future for generations to come. For more information, please visit www.oakbendmedcenter.org. Each October, Morrison continues its Socktober tradition, collecting socks for those in need during the colder months. Socks are one of the most needed, yet least donated, items in homeless shelters, which makes every pair collected even more meaningful. Together, we’re helping bring warmth and comfort to those who need it most. Thank you to everyone who participated in donating, your generosity truly knocks our socks off!💙

October is National Pharmacy Month, a time to celebrate the dedication, knowledge, and care pharmacists bring to every patient interaction. Pharmacists are key members of the healthcare team, ensuring medications are used safely and effectively. 💙 💊 Fun fact: Did you know Dr Pepper, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Vernor’s Ginger Ale were all invented by pharmacists or pharmacy technicians? Talk about mixing up something special! 🥤 We’re proud to recognize our incredible OakBend Pharmacy Team with a small token of appreciation, a candy “prescription” to sweeten their day! 🍬
