"You can't think of a more important state. There's skirmishes all over the place that are part of the story of this Revolution," Ken Burns said on a visit to New York in support of his new PBS series, "The American Revolution." There are 44 state parks and historic sites with relevance to the Revolutionary War. We're proud that the world will get a look at a few of them in this series as we prepare for the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.

City life may be full of excitement, but pausing to take it slow and enjoy the pockets of peace that can be found across the five boroughs is also important. Nestled along the banks of the East River in Williamsburg, Marsha P. Johnson State Park is a 7-acre green-space sanctuary with stunning Midtown views. A space known for its community gatherings, the Brooklyn park brings New Yorkers together and welcomes all. Learn more about the transgender rights pioneer Marsha P. Johnson and her namesake park. 🏳️⚧️ https://lnkd.in/eMrYtZUu

Panoramic beaches. World-class fishing, boating, hiking and camping. History that feels ever-present. There's no place quite like New York's Thousand Islands. Last week, Acting Commissioner Kathy Moser visited Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site, Wellesley Island, Westcott, Keewaydin, and Southwick Beach State Parks, and the Thousand Islands Regional Maintenance Complex to learn about preservation, infrastructure and visitor experience projects recently completed and underway, and to meet the remarkable staff who make it all happen.
