We have been the voice of dairy farmers on Capitol Hill since 1916.
About us
The National Milk Producers Federation, established in 1916 and based in Arlington, VA, develops and carries out policies that advance the well-being of dairy producers and the cooperatives they own. The members of NMPF’s cooperatives produce the majority of the U.S. milk supply, making NMPF the voice of dairy producers on Capitol Hill and with government agencies. NMPF provides a forum through which dairy farmers and their cooperatives formulate policy on national issues that affect milk production and marketing. NMPF's contribution to this policy is aimed at improving the economic interests of dairy farmers, thus assuring the nation's consumers an adequate supply of pure, wholesome, and nutritious milk and dairy products. The policies of NMPF are determined by its members from across the nation. Therefore, the policy positions expressed by NMPF are the only nationwide expression of dairy farmers and their cooperatives on national public policy.

Dairy is having a moment, and the moment is built to last, say NMPF CEO Gregg Doud and IDFA's Michael Dykes. #Protein's a big part of the story, but not all of it. Want proof? Investors have 11 billion ($) reasons why. https://lnkd.in/eQZXwNcj

#MAHA presents clear opportunities for dairy, but dairy thrives on much more than MAHA. It's nearly universally consumed, has nutritional power that's backed by science, and transcends politics even as Washington policymakers support its value. This month's CEO's Corner. https://lnkd.in/eVPHMXFP

Dairy Farmers of America CEO Dennis Rodenbaugh highlights how skilled immigrant workers are essential to keeping dairy farms operating 24/7. These individuals aren’t just employees — they’re neighbors, active community members and vital contributors to rural economies. The immigration reform debate, he argues, isn’t about politics. It’s about sustaining farms, maintaining affordable food and preserving the fabric of rural America.
Labor challenges on America’s dairy farms, and their impact on the food supply, have reached a critical inflection point. Now is the time for urgent reform. With the President’s leadership, a solution can finally be delivered.

America’s food security is national security. Dairy Farmers of America President and CEO Dennis Rodenbaugh is delivering a clear message: The future of our food supply hinges on a stable farm workforce. America’s #dairy farms are powered by a shrinking labor pool — not because the jobs aren’t there, but because outdated immigration policies don’t support year-round labor needs. We risk more than just empty shelves when labor is scarce — we risk higher food costs, supply chain instability and weakened national resilience.

Food security is national security, and Land O'Lakes, Inc. CEO Beth Ford is leading Business Roundtable’s push for commonsense immigration reform that includes securing legal pathways for year-round farm workers to keep America’s dairy farms running.
“If you are a dairy farmer and you don’t have labor, you don’t have a business.” As a farmer-owned cooperative, Land O'Lakes, Inc. sees firsthand how essential farmworkers are to our food system and rural communities, especially now when farmer profitability is challenged. Thanks to Liz Fedor at Twin Cities Business for this important conversation. https://lnkd.in/gnfjQBrE
