It’s National Care at Home Month: a time to honor the professionals who bring essential care and support directly to people’s homes, helping older adults remain safe, independent, and comfortable. One person who truly embodies this mission is Samantha Waaland, Home Health Physical Therapist at National Church Residences and the 2025 recipient of the Ohio Health Care Association's Best of Ohio Home Care Excellence Award. Sam’s commitment goes far beyond physical therapy; she leads through service, empathy, and genuine human connection. Her work is a reminder of why National Care at Home Month matters: exceptional home-based care changes lives in big and small ways, every single day. Thank you, Sam, and thank you to all our home health professionals, for the comfort, safety, and confidence you bring to the people we serve.

Across Ohio, our teams from Central, Southern, and the Miami Valley came together to join the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, standing united with thousands of others in the fight for a future without Alzheimer’s and all other dementias. As proud sponsors and participants, our caregivers, and staff “walk the walk” every day by supporting individuals and families through compassionate care, innovative programming, and a commitment to dignity and hope. Together, we walk to honor loved ones, remember those we’ve lost, and continue the mission that drives us: to care, to advocate, and to fight for a world without Alzheimer’s.

Did you know it’s Nurse Practitioner Week? For more than 60 years, Nurse Practitioners (NPs) have delivered expert, compassionate care to millions. At National Church Residences, our NPs meet patients where they are—bringing comfort, dignity, and lasting impact every day. One example is our Registered Nurse Case Manager, Roger Estep, who was the 2025 recipient of Ohio Health Care Association's Home Care & Hospice Excellence Award. While working full time and pursuing his NP degree, Roger continues to go above and beyond for patients and families, ensuring every need is met with empathy and professionalism. Thank you to Roger, and to all of our incredible Nurse Practitioners, for your compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment to those we serve. #NursePractitionerWeek #HospiceCare #CompassionInAction #NationalChurchResidences #OhioHealthCareAssociation

At National Church Residences, honoring our Veterans means more than words. It means action. Yesterday at Lincoln Village, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office honored our Veterans with certificates of appreciation and Sheriff Gilbert’s chief's awards coin and a commemorative coin, symbolizing respect, honor, courage, and service. Robert Traphagan, owner of the CENTRAL OHIO MILITARY MUSEUM, also shared inspiring words. We extend our deepest gratitude not only to these Veteran residents, but to all who have served. Gratitude is powerful. Action is greater. Thank a Veteran today — and if you can, do more.

This year marks the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, a powerful reminder of those who have given, in Lincoln’s words, “the last full measure of devotion” to defend our democracy. Across our communities nationwide, we are proud to honor the veterans who call National Church Residences home. Every day, they inspire us with their courage, sacrifice, and spirit. We salute our veteran residents and employees for their service and for the continued impact they make on our mission. Happy Veterans Day! 🇺🇸

We are grateful to LeadingAge for allowing us to share our Digital Navigation story at their Annual Meeting in Boston earlier this week! This work would not be possible without the National Council on Aging's support for our Benefits Enrollment Center and our many great partners in the connectUS Coalition. Together, we are connecting older adults to the Internet, benefits, and their communities. #LeadingAge25, #DigitalSkillsHub, #ConnectUS #SmartSmart Columbus
