Fintech NerdCon came in hot this week in Miami. Wade Arnold hit the stage with Bo Jiang, Brandon Lloyd, and Matthew Goldman and they crowd listening was standing room only. And yes; the Wade fedora made a triumphant (and deeply questionable) day two return. Let's all agree not to encourage him to do this again. Wade also led a roundtable on agentic payments that packed out again. The man could host a session on “Enterprise Fax Machine Optimization” and we’d still need a bigger room. But here’s what actually hit me yesterday: the panels and roundtables didn't just swap “war stories.” They swapped leak reports. The kind plumbers share when they know exactly where the pressure blows, where the pipes rattle, and where 3AM batch jobs go to die. That’s what happens when the folks at the table have collectively pushed billions through systems that groan under modern volume. A few themes rose above the noise: - The innovation isn’t the faucet; it’s the pipes behind the wall. - B2B failures don’t happen at checkout; they happen in the back alley where settlement, clearing, and reconciliation fight for custody. - Money moves fast, but information moves faster; and if those two fall out of sync, someone’s weekend is over. - We’re asking platforms to run real-time, multi-party flows on infrastructure that still has dial-up energy. You can’t duct-tape your way into the future. This is why Moov lives in the invisible layer. The deep plumbing. The sockets. The wiring diagram no one wants to touch but everyone ends up depending on when scale becomes real. And one last time: huge props to Simon Taylor and the entire Nerdcon team. This conference has heart, brains, and community written all over it. Hell of a job.
