Congratulations to Ayers Saint Gross on the beautiful, award-winning design of the Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center at the Missouri Botanical Garden. Hunter Douglas Architectural’s North and South American divisions worked with T.J. Wies Contracting to help bring a signature feature—the scrim—to life. 🌱 Suspended above the main lobby, the scrim consists of 80 custom-engineered perforated Stripscreen panels. Designed to filter natural light, it creates the serene feeling of walking beneath a canopy of trees. You can also check out our gallery to learn more: https://lnkd.in/giWVTw54
The Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center at the Missouri Botanical Garden received the prestigious Best of Show Award at the 2025 SEGD Global Design Awards, which recognize the most innovative experiential design projects around the world. As the top award winner of the year, the visitor center is recognized for its thoughtful biophilic design elements inspired by the history of the Garden and its extensive plant collection. The design features a custom scrim that filters dappled light into the lobby to evoke the feeling of entering a clearing in the woods, custom terrazzo flooring that reflects the local landscape with inlays of river rock and hand-laid brass leaves, and furniture inspired by natural forms like rocks and pebbles. SEGD award jurors praised the project and said: “Both epic and restrained at the same time, the care, love, and warmth of this project came through to the whole jury. It takes passion and commitment to make a simple set of ideas come to fruition on a stage this large.” Thank you to SEGD for this amazing recognition! This project was completed in collaboration with Michael Vergason Landscape Architects, LTD and TAO + LEE Associates. Photos by CASEY DUNN. When a massive tree crashed into the historic Henry Shaw Mausoleum at Missouri Botanical Gardens, the copper skin-inside and out- was destroyed. We were trusted to bring it back to life. ASM's team hand-formed and installed every damaged panel, matching the original design and details perfectly. Another St. Louis Icon preserved for generations. Proud of this one. #HistoricRestoration #CopperRoofing #MissouriBotanicalGarden #Stlouis #ArchitecturalSheetMetal #local36 Missouri Botanical Garden

Our Girl Scout troop had the chance to support one of our scouts as she performed with the Variety the Children's Charity of St. Louis at the Missouri Botanical Garden Glow event. Watching her reaction when she saw the troop cheer her on was a great reminder of the impact supportive communities have on young people. We ended the evening exploring the Garden Glow lights together, creating a meaningful and memorable experience for the girls. Grateful for opportunities that build confidence, connection, and leadership in our youth. Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri Girl Scouts of the USA

🌿 COP30 Brazil Shines a Spotlight on Forests — And So Do We. Forests are taking center stage at COP30. This focus is not only timely — it’s essential. Forest ecosystems are among our most powerful allies in the climate fight, and protecting them requires collective responsibility across sectors. At SVI - The Sustainable Vanilla Initiative, we’re proud to be contributing to this global momentum. Our commitment to a Forest Positive vanilla supply chain by 2030 is fully aligned with the transformational themes raised at COP30. Here’s how we’re taking action: 🌱 1. Forest Monitoring Toolkit - We’ve developed a monitoring system that empowers our members to identify and respond to deforestation risks across key vanilla landscapes. This shared toolkit provides the data and insights needed to guide sourcing decisions, target agroforestry investments, and strengthen traceability. With this tool, SVI is helping shift the vanilla sector from reactive forest protection to proactive landscape stewardship 🌳 2. Collective Reforestation with the Missouri Botanical Garden (MBG) - In partnership with MBG, we’re restoring former agricultural fields in the Makirovana Tsihomanaomby Protected Area - is an IUCN category VI natural resources reserve. The project aims to restore degraded agricultural fields and reduce forest encroachment in the SAVA region of Madagascar — one of the world’s most important biodiversity hotspots. As global leaders discuss the future of nature, climate, and livelihoods at COP30, SVI members remain committed to driving real, grounded solutions within our supply chain. Building a Forest Positive future isn’t just an environmental ambition — it’s a responsibility we share. 🌍 Together, we can ensure that the landscapes we depend on continue to thrive for generations to come. #SustainableVanilla #2030Charter #Forestpositive #COP30 #Bidodiversity #Deforestation #Madagascar
