Home isn’t defined by walls or a single place. It’s found in moments of warmth, in shared love, and in the comfort of being cared for. This time of year, Luminary Hospice is dedicated to bringing that feeling of home to every patient we serve. #hospice #hospicecare #palliativecare #endoflifecare #homefortheholidays #brightmoments

At Luminary Hospice, we believe that everyone deserves to feel at home for the holidays, surrounded by comfort, love, and connection. This season, through our Home for the Holidays initiative, we’re focused on bringing that feeling of home to our patients and their families—wherever they may be. By building community partnerships, empowering families, providing referral resources, and seeking out ways to deliver Bright Moments to those in our care, we’re helping ensure that every family experiences a holiday season filled with comfort, connection, and memories that last. At the heart of this initiative is a personal story. Hear from our COO, Dr. Cynthia Douglas, DNP, MSN, RN,NEA-BC, as she shares how hospice care brought her family comfort and connection during the holidays. Fact: Hospice care can begin months before, providing comfort, support, and guidance for patients and families. Myth: Choosing hospice means giving up hope. Fact: Hospice care focuses on quality of life and supports patients in living each day fully and comfortably. Myth: Hospice is only for people with cancer. Fact: Hospice care supports individuals with various life-limiting conditions, including heart disease, dementia, and lung disease. This week, we recognize the invaluable contributions of our hospice chaplains—who bring comfort, hope, and peace to patients and families through every stage of their journey. Their presence reminds us that healing is not only physical, but also emotional and spiritual. We are deeply grateful for their compassion, guidance, and unwavering support in helping our patients and families find meaning, connection, and comfort when it’s needed most. Thank you to our spiritual care team for the difference you make every day.

Luminary Hospice reposted this
At Luminary Hospice, we believe in the power of bright moments to bring comfort and joy, helping our patients live fully in every season of life. When we asked our patient, Beverly Hevel, what would bring her joy, she didn’t hesitate—she wanted to snuggle with a bunny! Beverly raised four sons who had bunnies growing up, and this simple wish brought her back to cherished memories of raising her family. Bev, who has endured the heartbreaking loss of her husband, two of her sons, and a grandchild, lit up with warmth and laughter as she held Clover the bunny. She even lovingly teased her son about which of the boys had been better bunny caretakers. In that moment, Bev and Clover became instant friends. At Luminary Hospice, it’s an honor to create these bright moments—because sometimes, the smallest joys bring the greatest comfort.
