🚀⚡️ Please join us in welcoming Incubation Cohort 11, LACI's first resilient-rebuilding cohort! Earlier this year, we held our first pitch competition, The LA Resilient Rebuilding Cup, which aimed to find startups ready to deploy technology that can aid in the rebuilding of fire-impacted communities across Los Angeles. From the competition, many new founders entered our ecosystem, wanting to be a part of this new initiative. From disaster response and near-term rebuilding to long-term risk reduction and preparedness, 14 new companies will gain one-on-one executive coaching and mentorship, support for fundraising and investor relations, facilitated partnerships for pilot opportunities, and access to state-of-the-art facilities. This group of founders represents an urgent and meaningful response on multiple fronts. We look forward to offering tailored support on their journey to deployment. 🔗 Read all about the new cohort and our continued commitment to resilient-rebuilding in our latest blog by LACI Senior Vice President of Unlocking Innovation Adrienne Lindgren: https://lnkd.in/gxq-2iKV AquiPor Technologies, Inc. | ByFusion Global | Casa Nova Studio, Inc. | Digne | e.e.r.s. | Energy ReLeaf | HomeRES | Leaptran | SSG Environmental | THOLA | Deployables by Workbnb | AquaSense | Sujen International LLC | CLYR Interested in joining our next Incubation Cohort? 🧺🔋 It was a pleasure supporting the launch of this exciting new project with Family Laundry in the City of Oakland. The project, which brings solar, batteries, and integrated electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure to Family Laundry's pickup and delivery service, is the latest addition to our City Climate Innovation Challenge. The Challenge is helping cities across the country to incorporate innovative solutions to achieve climate goals and meet local needs. Read all about this great new pilot: https://lnkd.in/gTsXwTqG
Today, Oakland officials announced that Family Laundry, a family-owned business established in 2018 and one of the Bay Area’s leading wash-and-fold laundry pickup and delivery services, installed solar, batteries, and integrated electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at their facility in Oakland's San Antonio neighborhood. The site now has capacity for 17 electric vans to be charged using solar power. Partners supporting this $1M project included regional agencies Bay Area Air District and PG&E; community development finance organization Pacific Community Ventures; the LA Cleantech Incubator; and innovative technology provider Port Power. The chargers will be shared with Community Kitchens, which acquired an all-electric, refrigerated delivery van. This project advances the City of Oakland’s Equitable Climate Action Plan (ECAP) and Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Action Plan, which place local businesses, health, and environmental justice at the forefront of climate action. Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) reposted this
Last week (part two) on Friday, I was able to help celebrate Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI)’s partnership with the City of Oakland to advance zero emissions delivery via charging, solar, and battery storage for all electric delivery. A key part of LACI’s national City Climate Innovation Challenge, the project with Family Laundry included LACI startups Port Power whose solution reduces interconnection times and costs with thei solution, and Maxwell Vehicles for their conversion of an ICE Ram Master van to all electric. Thanks to Mayor Barbara Lee for coming out and being a part of Climate Mayors, and to Bulbul Gupta of Pacific Community Ventures (PCV) for your leadership in making this model project happen. Thanks LACI’s Jack Symington for all the great work you did to make this project happen!

Last week (part one), it was so edifying and inspiring to be with so many local and regional leaders from around the world at the Local Leaders Forum hosted by C40 Cities (thank you for your leadership Mark Watts and Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan!) and Bloomberg Philanthropies (thanks for your leadership Kelly Shultz!). Loved seeing so many Climate Mayors (so grateful to our chair Mayor Kate Gallego and ED Kate Wright)—and US governors from the Climate Alliance—there as well Also got to fete Justine Johnson for her induction into the TIME Climate 100 (thanks for all you do Justin Worland!) and enjoy a bit of The Earthshot Prize. We also hosted a Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) reception to celebrate city climate innovation from Cleantech entrepreneurs as well as the great work of our special guests LBC Mayor Rex Richardson, LA Deputy Mayor Nancy Sutley, and Senator Josh Becker! Special thanks to Michael Swords for organizing the event along with our amazing LACI team.
