Not to flip our own pages, but the Kansas Judicial Center won the first Fall Reading Challenge Book Brawl organized by the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library. The library describes the Book Brawl as a challenge within a challenge for worksites that have library materials delivered to them. Because our worksite had the highest percentage of reading challenge completion, our name was put on the trophy, giving us bragging rights for a year! Thank you, Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, for this opportunity! #KSCourts https://lnkd.in/gwZJMGss

This Veterans Day, we spotlight retired judge Dan Wiley. Wiley is a U.S. Air Force veteran who also served 17 years as a district judge in the 1st Judicial District, which includes Leavenworth and Atchison counties. As a judge, he helped establish the Leavenworth County Veterans Treatment Court. The specialty court helps justice-involved veterans get help for substance use disorders and mental health concerns. Since his retirement, he has taken on the new role as national commander of The American Legion, where he advocates for their "Be the One" mission to prevent veteran suicide. Thank you for your service! Thank you to The American Legion for providing the photo. #KSCourts University of Kansas School of Law
