Strong reading begins before students ever open a book. Clear articulation of speech sounds lays the foundation for orthographic mapping, the process that helps students connect sounds to letters and store words in long-term memory. Across the United States, math scores are slipping, and math anxiety is negatively affecting students as early as elementary school.
