55% of young people who have mentors are more likely to attend college.🎓 This is just one of the many reasons why mentoring matters! At Judson Center, our Mentoring Program connects children and youth in foster care with caring adult mentors who serve as friends, advocates, and supporters. Through these relationships, mentors help young people navigate their foster care journey and face their futures with hope and confidence. 👉 Want to learn more about the benefits of mentoring? We are proud to have members of our organization serve on the Social Current Board of Directors, where they are actively working to unleash the full power of the social sector!
President and Chief Executive Officer at Social Current | Working to activate the power of the social sector.
It’s Time to Redefine the Sector That Powers America. For too long, the organizations that deliver essential services, fuel innovation, and hold communities together have been defined by a single, limiting word: nonprofit. That label tells the public what we aren’t, instead of what we are, and it has shaped how people see us, how policymakers value us, and how money moves. The truth is, this is not charity work. It’s economic infrastructure. The social sector contributes $1.4 trillion to the U.S. economy, represents 5.2% of GDP, and employs more than 12 million people. It’s time to tell a different story, one that reflects our full value and power. I share more in my new op-ed for Inside Philanthropy.
