Wiley reposted this
Over 2,400 researchers globally shared their experiences with AI in the research lifecycle. The full findings are now available and they tell a story of both dramatic progress and persistent challenges. Highlights: 🌐 AI adoption has surged: 84% now use AI tools in some capacity (vs. 57% last year). 🌐 But concerns have grown: 64% cite fears about inaccuracies/hallucinations, and 58% about data privacy or security. 🌐 Most (85%) say AI has improved their efficiency; 77% say it has helped with volume of work; 73% say quality. 🌐 Institutional support is an opportunity for growth: only 41% feel they have adequate guidance or resources. 🌐 Researchers overwhelmingly call for transparency: 77% believe authors should disclose AI use in methods; 79% that figures edited by AI should be disclosed. There’s momentum, but a clear gap remains between AI potential and responsible, supported adoption. ➡️ Want to dig into the data? Meet Mita Mallick, author of The Devil Emails at Midnight: What Good Leaders Can Learn From Bad Bosses. With over 200,000 followers on LinkedIn, Mita shares honest reflections on leadership, workplace culture, and professional life. Learn more about her writing journey in another edition of Portraits & Pages. "For years, I thought the problem was me. I entered a world of work not built for someone like me. I kept thinking: It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me. I convinced myself that if I just worked harder, they’d recognize me. When things went wrong, I rationalized: They didn’t mean it. I’m overreacting. I need to fit in. It took me too long to realize I was in systems that weren’t built for me. Once I understood that, I went on a mission to fix what’s broken in workplaces. I decided to focus on the impact bosses have—because bosses make or break inclusion, and they make or break careers. That mission inspired me to write The Devil Emails at Midnight. The book begins: I have been a bad boss. And chances are, so have you. It’s filled with hilarious and heartbreaking stories of bad bosses I endured. Through these archetypes, we learn what not to become. The book includes self-reflective exercises and tools to help us do better and be better in the workplace. Writing is deeply tied to my life. Every day, I write for 30 minutes to improve my craft. On LinkedIn, I share daily reflections on work, parenting, writing, and culture. Outside of writing, life is beautifully ordinary. As a mom of two, I cherish quiet moments—usually between breaking up fights or hunting for socks. I love reading memoirs with Earl Grey tea, sneaking in naps, and watching "Is It Cake?" with my kids. We’re big on Halloween, bagels, and board games like Monopoly and Clue. These moments ground me. They remind me leadership isn’t just about boardrooms. It’s about showing up authentically, learning from mistakes, and creating space for others to do the same." Interested in learning more? Check out her book here: https://ow.ly/jwtR50XrbtR

"Start with your pain points, not with what's out there." Just one piece of advice from Avi Staiman on integrating AI into research workflows. Most researchers want to be creative, to experiment, to discover – not to spend endless hours on grant writing, reports, and administrative tasks. What if AI could give you that time back? In this clip, Avi reveals the game-changing mindset shift: identify what makes you dread Monday mornings, then find the AI tool that frees you to do what you love. Your research passion shouldn't be buried under busywork. It's time to reclaim it. Watch the full conversation: https://ow.ly/zNtN50XnWRS
