Ever walked out of a lecture feeling like your entire design lens just shifted a few degrees? Recently, I had the privilege of hearing Adam Rolston, senior founding partner of INC Architecture & Design, speak at SCAD - and wow, what a lecture! Adam reminded us that architecture is more than physical space. It’s a battleground where aesthetics, identity, and power intersect. He spoke about design as cultural self-definition, as resistance, as dialogue. One project that really stuck with me was Super Peach, David Chang’s upcoming restaurant - a vibrant, playful, and deeply intentional design that mirrors INC’s philosophy that “us is more.” It’s a reminder that community isn’t static; it evolves, scales, and reflects who we are becoming. I left this lecture completely rethinking how I approach space- not as something people move through, but as something that moves them!
