Last week's Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC) #MedXR and #Quality Summits set a new bar for what meaningful industry collaboration can look like. Two of the greatest highlights were witnessing James Hu, MD introduce Skylight and Illuminant Surgical’s novel approach to precision access and visualization, and having the opportunity to present our Security Risk Management framework to leading innovators and industry experts. Just as meaningful were the candid hallway conversations and keynote sessions on evidence generation, reimbursement realities, risk management in the age of AI, and the engineering required to bring XR from concept to clinical reality. The opportunity to speak directly with the FDA about expectations around safety, reliability, and the future of regulation is something we do not take for granted. Huge thank you to the MDIC team for working tirelessly to bridge the gap between industry and the agency in such a productive environment. What an incredible experience at the MDIC MedXR Summit! MDIC (Medical Device Innovation Consortium) is a unique public–private collaboration that brings together industry leaders, government agencies, clinicians, and innovators to shape the future of medical technology. The MedXR Summit is one of the only conferences where private and public stakeholders in medical extended reality (XR) can openly meet, exchange ideas, and engage directly with the FDA about the future direction and regulatory landscape of medical XR. Our team showcased Skylight through a podium presentation, demonstrating its novel approach for precision access and visualization. We were also proud to present our Cybersecurity Framework in front of some of the world’s leading innovators and industry experts. A huge thank-you to everyone who connected with us. I'm excited to announce that Illuminant Surgical has been accepted to present a poster at MDIC's MedXR 2025 Summit in Hyattsville, Maryland! Our presentation, "Simplifying Cybersecurity for Start-Ups: A Practical Framework for eSTAR-Ready Documentation," will cover our in-house framework harmonizing AAMI TIR57, SW96, ISO 14971, and FDA guidance. I had such a great time showcasing Illuminant Surgical’s Skylight at the Near Frontier Hardware Fair hosted by Cantos in El Segundo. It was a real joy to demo Skylight live, share what we’ve been building, and swap ideas with founders, investors, and fellow hardware enthusiasts. The energy in the room was contagious — nothing beats seeing people interact with the product firsthand. Huge thanks to the organizers for bringing this community together. Come help us build a groundbreaking patient access and visualization platform. 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 Someone who can help run our innovative clinical research facilities. Not afraid to get their hands dirty, strong experimental background, and excited about applying science to helping patients. This person is gonna be able to apply their skills across a variety of clinical indications, from spine surgery to cancer biopsy. Expect to publish, teach, and troubleshoot.
