We were proud to have IMA's Donovan Griffith participate on a panel hosted by our partners at National Association of Manufacturers - NAM earlier this week on the "Make America Healthy Again (MAHA)" initiatives. This conversation is especially important for Illinois, where food manufacturing is the single largest segment of our state’s manufacturing economy. Thank you to NAM and fellow panelists from the Consumer Brands Association, the WEST VIRGINIA MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION, and others for a valuable discussion on what these policies could mean for employers, consumers and our manufacturing competitiveness.
Earlier this week, I had the honor of representing the Illinois Manufacturers' Association on a panel hosted by the National Association of Manufacturers - NAM focused on Make America Heathy Again (MAHA) initiatives. It was a timely and insightful discussion, and I appreciated the opportunity to share insights with Sarah Gallo from the Consumer Brands Association, Bill Bissett of the WEST VIRGINIA MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION, and Jake Kuhns / Amy Rawlings / Shonzia Thompson, CAE with the NAM. Understanding and discussing the impacts of MAHA initiatives on the food industry is critically important, especially here in Illinois. Food manufacturing represents the single largest segment of our state’s manufacturing economy, generating more than $135 billion in annual economic impact. Today, roughly 88,000 Illinoisans work directly in food manufacturing, underscoring just how essential this sector is to our state’s economic strength and to the communities it supports.
