On November 15, Hill International’s Houston team laced up their boots for MD Anderson Cancer Center’s 10th annual Boot Walk. We joined more than 11,000 participants, who walked 1.2 miles and raised more than $2 million for funding patient programs, cancer research, prevention efforts, and more. Construction is in full swing on the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority’s (VTA) $600 million Eastridge to BART Regional Connector in San Jose, CA. As the light rail extension is taking place in the center of an arterial roadway and transit corridor, VTA’s Regional Connector team is hard at work promoting site and traffic safety and communicating regular construction updates to limit the project’s impact on the surrounding neighborhood. According to Vice President Ray Balallo Jr, PE, who leads Hill International’s construction management team on the project, key to the team’s success so far has been VTA’s one-team culture. The Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority (Valley Metro RPTA) was front and center at the American Council of Engineering Companies of Arizona (ACEC Arizona)’s Engineering Excellence Awards event on November 7. Hill International joined Valley Metro and our project partners to celebrate two of the transit agency’s projects recognized at the event: the South Central Extension/Downtown Hub and the Northwest Extension Phase II. The Northwest Extension Phase II received the Arizona Transportation Partnering Excellence Award for the project team’s robust and effective partnering approach. Submitted by AECOM, the South Central Extension/Downtown Hub received ACEC Arizona’s 2025 Grand Award, the Judges’ Choice Award, and the People’s Choice Award for the project team’s innovation and resilience in the face of extraordinary challenges.
