About us

For more than 165 years, the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta has been a pillar in the CSRA, providing programs with a purpose for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Our annual fundraising campaign helps build the resources we need to best serve our neighbors and members. The Y leads the charge in adapting to community needs. Every year, we strive to increase scholarships, add new member benefits and design programs that support our community. We operate at more than 50 locations in eight counties across Georgia and South Carolina, including 9 health and wellness facilities, a Child Development Academy, Camp Lakeside (a 100-acre camp in Lincolnton), 27 Primetime After School sites and 19 summer camp locations throughout the CSRA. No one is turned away from the Y for their inability to pay. Each year, we give out $2 million in scholarships to those in need. This allows more kids to attend camp, provides the opportunity for more families to become members, and gives more youth a safe place to go before and after regular school hours.

Updates

  • Community need is growing, and the Y is responding. With local food bank supplies dwindling and federal support programs like SNAP and WIC in jeopardy, the YMCA is launching a Food Drive through the end of November. We’re calling on our partners, members and neighbors to support Cheryl’s Kitchen, our YMCA food program. Donations of nonperishable food items are accepted at all area YMCA locations. As a thank-you, all donors will be entered to win a free month of membership. Together, let’s ensure our community doesn’t go hungry. #ForABetterUs

  • Happy Boss’s Day to our President & CEO, Catie McCauley! Your example of servant leadership continues to inspire our entire Y family. You lead with grace, humility and a steadfast commitment to the Y’s Christian values—always choosing to serve alongside your team rather than watch from the sidelines. Your hands-on approach and genuine care for our mission and community make a lasting impact each day. Thank you for leading with faith, courage and heart.

  • We want to give a shout-out to a few stellar Y employees who received ROSE Awards last week: Ty Ashley, Cheryl Wirt and Amanda Williams! 🌹 Ty is our Prime Time Director, and has done an amazing job preparing our sites and teachers for the school year! 🌹Cheryl, our CFO, is the brains behind "Cheryl's Kitchen Food Program"! Her leadership and commitment kept thousands of kids fed this summer. 🌹Amanda is the executive assistant to our CEO. She keeps our entire staff team on track and is a true team-player! We are so thankful to have Amanda, Cheryl and Ty as part of our team.
