For more than 165 years, the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta has been a pillar in the CSRA, providing programs with a purpose for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Our annual fundraising campaign helps build the resources we need to best serve our neighbors and members. The Y leads the charge in adapting to community needs. Every year, we strive to increase scholarships, add new member benefits and design programs that support our community. We operate at more than 50 locations in eight counties across Georgia and South Carolina, including 9 health and wellness facilities, a Child Development Academy, Camp Lakeside (a 100-acre camp in Lincolnton), 27 Primetime After School sites and 19 summer camp locations throughout the CSRA. No one is turned away from the Y for their inability to pay. Each year, we give out $2 million in scholarships to those in need. This allows more kids to attend camp, provides the opportunity for more families to become members, and gives more youth a safe place to go before and after regular school hours.

Community need is growing, and the Y is responding. With local food bank supplies dwindling and federal support programs like SNAP and WIC in jeopardy, the YMCA is launching a Food Drive through the end of November. We’re calling on our partners, members and neighbors to support Cheryl’s Kitchen, our YMCA food program. Donations of nonperishable food items are accepted at all area YMCA locations. As a thank-you, all donors will be entered to win a free month of membership. Together, let’s ensure our community doesn’t go hungry. #ForABetterUs
