About us
ELMWOOD PARK COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT 401 is an Illinois public school district that educates nearly 3,000 students in grades PK-12. The four schools that make up EPCUSD 401 serve the residents of Elmwood Park, Ill., a Near West suburb of Chicago with a population of about 25,000. Our district and Chicago Public Schools are the only two unit school districts in Cook County. Our schools are: • John Mills Elementary School (738 students in grades PK-5) • Elmwood Elementary School (551 students in grades K-5) • Elm Middle School (635 students in grades 6-8) • Elmwood Park High School (991 students in grades 9-12) EPHS also offers a post-12 transition program that currently serves five students.

Join us and take the next step in your career! Elmwood Park CUSD 401 is seeking outstanding candidates for the position of assistant principal at John Mills Elementary School. The successful candidate will assist the principal in providing leadership and supervision in administering the educational program of John Mills, which educates students in grades pre-K through 5. Qualifications include professional educator licensure, administrative certificate: general administrative, a master’s degree and at least five years experience as a classroom teacher. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Promoting the educational development and achievement of students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law; • Providing leadership and direction to staff with regard to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of educational programs, including curricular and extracurricular activities as well as professional staff development; • Serving as principal in the absence of the principal; • Promoting a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning; • Continuing to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research. • Encouraging staff to continue to grow professionally and to experiment with new approaches or strategies to teaching. • Assisting in coordinating the work of school staff and school district program leaders to develop and implement instructional programs and teaching practices. • Conducting ongoing assessment of student learning, and working with teaching staff to modify instructional methods to fit students' needs, including students with special needs. • Encouraging parental involvement in students' education and ensuring effective communication with students and parents. • Ensuring that student conduct and attendance conforms with the school's standards and school district policies. • Supervising and evaluating teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the school district's evaluation plan, and makes recommendations regarding goals, areas needing improvement and continued employment.. Come join our team! Elmwood Park CUSD 401 is seeking outstanding candidates for the position of Chief School Business Official (CSBO). The CSBO serves as chief financial advisor to the Board of Education, providing leadership and oversight in the areas of finance, buildings/grounds and operations, student transportation, food service, and technology. Qualifications include a master’s degree or higher in education, business management or accounting; CSBO certification; and experience overseeing the financial and operational aspects of a school district. In addition, a professional educator license is preferred. Specific responsibilities of the CSBO include but are not limited to: • Supervising the financial affairs of the District, including collection, safe keeping, and handling of all funds; accounting and reporting procedures; approval of all expenditures; and long-range planning. • Compiling necessary statistical data for preparation of the fiscal budget and filing of tax levy. • Supervising a program of budget control and acting as budget-control officer. • Developing and administering a program for purchasing supplies and equipment. • Interpreting the financial position of the District to the Board of Education and the community. • Attending School Board meetings and preparing such reports for the Board as the Superintendent may direct. • Maintaining liaison with social, professional, civic, volunteer, and other community agencies and groups as needed. • Managing the District’s insurance programs. • Assisting the Superintendent in developing the administration and coordination of the District’s operational programs. • Supervising the work of program directors and managers as it relates to District operations. • Evaluating the District Technology Director and the Buildings and Grounds Director. • Creating the annual school budget and the audited annual financial report in compliance with the State requirements. • Acting as advisor to the Superintendent on the school budget and all other business and financial matters.
