During National Native American Heritage Month, let’s deepen our understanding of Indigenous cultures. This image is a digital recreation of a wampum belt created in the 1600s. The patterns and colors of the wampum belts beads convey specific meanings, functioning as a form of communication, these various designs of beads understood by those familiar with wampum language, irrespective of what the spoken language is. This month, let’s explore the stories, art, and histories of Native peoples. Together, we can honor their legacies. #NativePride #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth
