Recently, we had the opportunity to support a Solar for All site visit for University of California, Berkeley graduate policy students at Fairfax Village. During the visit, students learned about the District’s unique solar policy landscape, one that makes DC a national leader, as well as project-specific details and how this installation came together. Fairfax Village, a collection of condominiums built in 1941, is one of the oldest communities in Southeast DC. The site hosts multiple Solar for All Community Renewable Energy Facilities (CREFs) that collectively generate more than 2,339 MWh of solar energy annually. This clean energy provides no-cost solar power to 556 income-qualified households both within the Villages and across the District, saving them up to $4.1 million off their electricity bills over the lifetime of the systems. Thank you so much to Flywheel Renewables and the Fairfax Village Condominium Association for hosting us and the students at this wonderful site bringing clean energy and electricity bill savings to District residents that need it the most. A big shout out to all the partners, like the DC Green Bank and Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE), that made this project a clean energy reality.

We couldn't have asked for a nicer day to celebrate an investment that demonstrates how we can repurpose underutilized office space and transform it into an incredible hotel that revitalizes downtown, promotes economic development, creates over 150 local jobs, and does it all from the comfort of an energy efficient building. Thank you to great partners like the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, Councilmember Brooke Pinto, Valor Development, PACE Equity, LLC, the Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE), the DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU), and the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District for making this project a success!
DC's latest office conversion is open for business! Sixty DC hotel converted an empty office building in Dupont Circle into a boutique hotel, restaurant, and rooftop bar just steps from the Metro. We were proud to cut the ribbon on this DC PACE-funded project alongside Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, Brooke Pinto, Valor Development, and PACE Equity, LLC. Through DC Green Bank's leadership of the DC PACE program, investments like this are building a more resilient District, growing the economy, and creating jobs. Thanks to PACE financing, this hotel will establish a new anchor that will support a more vibrant downtown and drive the continued growth of the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District.
