NAMS-2 Highlights 5/7: As part of public safety operations conducted Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS), Bhoomin B Chauhan, Ph.D. collaborated with San Francisco Police Department's (SFPD’s) Drone Unit in support of Public Safety Ops research at the NASA Ames Research Center. He interacted with officers from the SFPD Phoenix Unit, which oversees their drone-as-first responder (DFR) program on a live mission to understand how SFPD has integrated BVLOS operations. In an early demonstration of an effective use of the DFR program, after a call to the DFR operators to track a stolen car, the drone operators took off and were able to visually identify the car in less than two minutes! NAMS-2 Highlights 4/7: We have all dreamed of a hot pizza delivery from a drone right when we crave it the most, but what if it is really windy? Fear not! Dr. Priyank Pradeep addresses this not-so-trivial matter in the NASA Technical Memo, “Simulation Studies of 4D Volume-based Pre-departure Strategic Deconfliction under Wind Uncertainties for Package Delivery sUAS.” https://lnkd.in/gVy4ssFK Analytical Mechanics Associates #sUAS #DroneDelivery #Drones #NASA

NAMS-2 Highlights 3/7: NASA’s North Texas Research Station (NTX) hosted an “ATC University” training session to expose NASA and Team Crown researchers to real-world ATC operations. Attendees toured operational facilities, talked with FAA controllers and colleagues, and learned more about how the National Airspace System runs and NASA-developed systems are currently being used by NASA’s industry partners that include major U.S. airlines. These sessions enable the researchers to be more focused and to make informed decisions to better support their FAA and industry stakeholders. #ATC #FAA #NASA #NAS #AirTrafficControl #ARTCC #ATCT

NAMS-2 Highlights 1/7: November marks the end of the first year on our NAMS-2 contract. Crown is pleased to share our highlights in a series of short stories. We kick it off with a photo of the team with NASA’s Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy on December 3, 2024. She visited NASA’s North Texas Research Station (NTX) facility for demonstrations of NASA’s air traffic management technologies, many of which are supported by the NAMS-2 contract. Some of our support team, along with their NASA colleagues, are in the team photo - Keenan Roach, Jody Null. #NASA
