About us
The Compton Unified School District is located in the south central region of Los Angeles County, California, and encompasses the city of Compton and portions of the cities of Carson and Los Angeles. The district currently serves nearly 16,000 students at 36 sites: twenty-one elementary schools, eight middle schools, five comprehensive high schools and five alternative schools. MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the Compton Unified School District is to empower leaders to lead, teachers to teach and students to learn by fostering an environment that encourages leaders and teachers to be visionary, innovative and accountable for the achievement of all students. GOALS 1. Promote a safe and healthy environment in every school. 2. Provide equal education for every child. 3. Ensure that every child has access to technological opportunities. 4. Continue to maintain high expectations and high student achievement, and hold personnel accountable for student success. 5. Improve team efforts by enhancing employee communications and collaboration. 6. Embrace and celebrate the diversity of our district. 7. Build, foster and promote partnerships with parents and the community. 8. Maintain facilities; plan and promote capital improvements. CORE BELIEFS We believe all children will learn at higher levels. 🎉🙌🏾 Celebrating Dominguez High School’s Angelina Ramirez! 🌟🐂 Last night during the Compton Unified Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees, CUSD proudly recognized Dominguez Senior Angelina Ramirez for her incredible accomplishments in SkillsUSA and Career Technical Education! 👩🏾🏫💼✨ Angelina, who is in the Dominguez Emergency Medical Response Pathway, was recently elected President of SkillsUSA California, earned GOLD at the State Championships 🥇, and placed Top 5 in the Nation at Nationals! 🇺🇸🔥 She also represented CUSD at a major conference in Carlsbad, and this spring she’ll take the stage to speak in front of 7,000 attendees — a true leader in the making! 🎤🌟 We are so proud of you, Angelina! 🎓🙌🏾 3 CUSD Scholars Receive Scholarships at CUSD Board Meeting 🙌🏾🎓 At last night’s CUSD Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees, scholars Jose Jaimes (Dominguez High School ) Amelie Ramon (Compton Early College High School), and Valeria Arriaga (Centennial High School) were each awarded $5,000+ scholarships thanks to Raymond Harvey, founder of the Compton Run Club 🏃🏾♂️❤️. This year’s awards bring the total to over $55,000 raised for Compton Unified seniors through the annual 5K for $5K Scholarship Fundraiser, a run/walk event rooted in community pride and support for student success. 🤖🏆 Dominguez Takes 1st at Robotics Meet 1! 13 Robotics teams from 8 schools and a total of 72 scholars competed at Enterprise Middle School last Saturday, and The Robonauts from Dominguez High School came out on top! 🥇 Rising Phoenix from Compton Early College High School earned 3rd place 🥉, with teams from Davis, Centennial, Compton High School, and more showing incredible skill. 🎉🚍 Compton Unified’s High School Showcase Kicked Off Today! 🙌🏾✨ This week, CUSD is bussing all 1,300 eighth graders to tour our four incredible high schools — Centennial, Compton High School , Compton Early College High School, and Dominguez High School . 🏫💙 🌟👥 Today, half of our 8th graders toured — the rest go tomorrow! Scholars were welcomed by principals sharing why their school is the best choice, and current high school students gave real insight into campus life, programs, and opportunities. CUSD high schools lead the way with a 94% graduation rate and 95% college acceptance rate, outperforming surrounding districts and showing why Compton Unified is the best place for scholars to thrive. 🎓🔥 Students explored programs like ASB, sports, band, cheer, robotics, esports, and more. 🎶🤖🎮 ✨ Showcase Highlights: 🎭 Compton High greeted students with band, flag, dance, and cheer, followed by a mini campus tour — including a theater performance, woodshop and CTE visits, and a look at athletic facilities like the new pool. 🪖 Dominguez impressed with its Marine Corps JROTC, strong CTE pathways, and championship sports teams. 🎤 Centennial welcomed scholars with two powerful choir performances, campus clubs, and a marching band finale. 🏅 Compton Early College highlighted its national ranking, Blue Ribbon and California Distinguished School honors, and its culture of academic excellence. 🎬✨ Compton Unified shines at the Coast Film & Music Festival! CUSD schools Dominguez High School and Davis Middle School proudly represented the district at this year’s festival in Laguna Beach. Dominguez High School’s scholars in the Digital Media Production Pathway brought home major honors, showcasing the incredible talent of our student filmmakers. 🏆 Compton Roots earned the Audience Choice Award for its powerful storytelling. 🏆 Illegal took home both the Coast Legacy Award and the Humanitarian Award, highlighting its strong social message and impact. Davis Middle School also represented Compton Unified with pride, making it to the finals with its documentary Journey Through Technology, a moving look at a student discovering herself through technology. 🙌🏾🎥 Even without a win, reaching the finals was a huge accomplishment!
