Updates

  • The Owensboro Sanitation Department will be there for you when it comes to collecting your leaves! 🍂 Crews will make three passes by your home this season to vacuum leaves. Be sure to rake them to the curb - not into the street. When your zone is scheduled, make sure your leaves are ready. Crews won’t be able to pivot for late rake-outs or piles that can’t be accessed. You can also bag your leaves and place them at the curb on your regular trash day, or take them to the orange leaf collection dumpsters behind the Sportscenter parking lot. Click the link in the comments to find your Leaf Zone and sign up for text alerts so you never miss a pickup!

  • Progress is happening at the site of the City of Owensboro's new Indoor Sports Facility. It may not look like much from the outside yet, but there’s been plenty of work happening behind the scenes, from site prep to underground utilities. Soon, you’ll start to see some big changes taking shape. Once complete, this state-of-the-art facility will host tournaments and bring visitors from all around to our city. Be sure to follow our page for more updates!

  • Construction is moving right along on the new Fire Station 3 on Cravens Avenue! If you’ve driven by recently, you’ve probably noticed it starting to take shape. Once finished, this modern facility will help our firefighters better serve the community. We’re excited to see progress on this important project.

  • The Owensboro Police Department’s Police in the Park event was a huge success this week! They had a blast spending lunch in the park showing off the Emergency Response Team MRAP armored vehicle and other tools they use to assist in serving our community A big thank you to Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline for joining them and handing out popsicles - it was the perfect treat on a hot summer day. The final Police in the Park of the season will be Moneta Sleet Jr. Park on July 29!

  • Big things are happening for our senior community! Today we broke ground on the new Senior Community Center. It’s all happening at the corner of Carter Road and West Second Street, right next to the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden. We’re building more than just a facility - we’re building community. Stay tuned as construction moves forward. We can’t wait to see this space come to life!
