About us

For 130 years, Chicago Commons’ mission has been to partner with individuals, families, and communities to overcome poverty, discrimination, and isolation. Chicago Commons enables families to break the cycle of poverty by providing early education, strengthening parents and caring for the elderly, while also advocating for their equal chance at success. From our first settlement house, we’ve centered ourselves in underserved communities to give our neighbors the tools and skills they need to reach their greatest potential.

  • Chicago Commons extends heartfelt thanks to the Russell & Josephine Kott Memorial Charitable Trust for their generous support of our Adult Day Services (ADS) program. This vital funding helps us provide seniors and adults with disabilities opportunities for physical activity, social connection, and enrichment—reducing isolation and promoting overall well-being. For more than four decades, Chicago Commons has empowered older adults and individuals with disabilities to maintain independence and quality of life, delaying or preventing the need for institutional care. Today, our ADS center serves over 100 participants and their caregivers across Chicago, offering safe transportation in wheelchair-accessible vehicles, nutritious meals, engaging activities, and comprehensive health and wellness support. #ThankYouThursday #SeniorServices #ChicagoCommons #ThrivingAcrossGenerations #AdultDayServices
