Blake MacGregor, vice president of project development and preconstruction, spoke on a panel at this year’s Chicago Build Expo. Discussions included strategies that the industry is using to streamline preconstruction and reduce redesign, minimizing impacts of cost escalation, response to market conditions and more. Conversations like these are invaluable for improving how we deliver projects. Early collaboration and shared strategies help streamline preconstruction, manage costs, and support smarter decisions. Open dialogue across the industry helps us adapt, innovate, and deliver better results for our clients. Great job, Blake!

Watch us place a nearly 11-ton anchor! Forrestal Elementary School in North Chicago received a truly incredible gift, an anchor from the USS Topeka, a ship that served in both WWII and Vietnam. Our team helped place the anchor, which weighs a total of 21,567 pounds, with a crane outside the school this week. Forrestal serves children of Navy servicemen as well as the city of North Chicago. This anchor will serve as a focal point for the school and is a symbol of history and of their parent’s commitment of service to our country. We were honored to partner with North Chicago District 187, Forrestal Elementary, Project Management Advisors, Inc. (PMA), and Perkins Eastman to make this project a success.

Last week, we joined UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook for a groundbreaking ceremony to kick off the construction of their new cath lab expansion project. This project includes a new 15,000 sq. ft. addition which will create two additional cath labs, recovery bays, support areas and room for future growth to better serve cardiology, vascular and oncology patients. Construction is scheduled to be completed in September of 2026, with the first patient date slated for early 2027. We are very excited to work on this project for UCM AdventHealth and the Bolingbrook community!

What a great throwback! In 2017, we worked as the construction manager for The Yard at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST). For this project, we repurposed the existing Skyline Stage into The Yard, a unique and innovative theater that can be moved to create a variety of stage configurations and seat up to 850 patrons. CST is known for vibrant productions that reflect Shakespeare’s genius for storytelling, and The Yard has enhanced their ability to deliver new and imaginative productions. This 33,000-sq.-ft. transformation will be a part of Chicago’s Navy Pier experience for years to come.
From the Archives: 📍 Chicago Shakespeare Theater – The Yard | 2017 The expansion of the Chicago Shakespeare Theater introduced The Yard - a groundbreaking, multi-format performance venue redefining flexibility in theater design. The Yard allows for twelve distinct stage configurations — from proscenium and thrust to in-the-round setups — thanks to nine moveable, four-story seating towers. Construction of The Yard began in March 2016 and was completed by Bulley & Andrews in a whirlwind 18 months. More than 200 architects, engineers, and designers, and 400 construction workers contributed to the complex build - incorporating 2,500 tons of concrete, 375 tons of steel, and 15 miles of electrical conduit. LVS partnered with Block Electric Co., Inc. to deliver the structured cabling connectivity that powers the theatre’s advanced systems, along with video surveillance and access control ensuring the venue’s security and reliability behind the scenes. A performance space as adaptable as the stories it tells — we’re proud to have helped bring this iconic addition to Navy Pier to life.
