This week, my team and I had the absolute pleasure speaking at a Know Your Rights event hosted by the Bridge Boston Charter School. We met with a room (in person and virtually) full of dedicated parents and teachers—people who fiercely show up for their kids and their communities, even when the systems around them feel uncertain or overwhelming. We talked about something that’s unfortunately become more urgent than ever: the rights of immigrant children and their families, especially in this current climate. From school safety to dealing with ICE, to understanding how and when families can protect themselves legally—we covered the basics and tried to bring some clarity to a situation that can feel really confusing and scary. It’s a privilege to be able to show up in spaces like these and help demystify the legal process—even just a little bit. I’m in awe of the passion the educator at this school have for their kids.
