Jeff is also a co-chair for our VETS Employee Resource Group, where he connects with other veterans and their loved ones. Last week, Blue Cross MA associates from across the organization came together to experience the magic of Diwali. We savored delicious traditional foods, danced to Indian music, and enjoyed performances that embody this beautiful festival symbolizing light conquering darkness and good over evil. Hosted by our Asian Blue Community Employee Resource Group, this event demonstrates the power in sharing our cultures — because when we celebrate each other, we all belong.

Boston Area Gleaners, Inc., Damiens Food Pantry, Root, Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership – SEMAP, and Union Capital are doing vital work across the food system in Massachusetts. At Blue Cross MA, nearly 75% of our associates are women — it’s part of why we’re so committed to women’s health. On Oct 15, our Employee Resource Group for menopause support hosted their second annual menopause awareness walk to spotlight the 1.3 million women a year in the U.S. who experience the transition. Walkers also donated items to Dignity Matters, Inc., a nonprofit that provides free menstrual products, bras, and underwear to women, girls, and transgender men who are homeless or disadvantaged. A big thanks to everyone who joined in and made a difference!

With open enrollment just around the corner, it’s important to understand how your plan works: - Your deductible depends on the plan you select. Typically, HMOs have a lower deductible, but you must use in-network providers for care. PPOs usually have a higher deductible, but you can see any provider you want. - Copays, a set amount you pay out-of-pocket for certain common health care services, like checkups or screenings, apply both before and after you’ve met your deductible. Copays help ensure preventive care is affordable. - Co-insurance kicks in after your deductible is met. It’s the percentage you pay for covered health care services. Insurance takes care of the rest.
