A few weeks ago, ARG designers Jordan Paing and Charlotte Matthai, AIA participated in a portfolio review coordinated by the NOMAS group at Cal Poly Pomona. It was inspiring to speak with the students about their work and to talk about ARG’s projects. Thanks for including us! #CPPNOMAS #ARG #ArchitecturalResourcesGroup

Come join ARG and friends at Plaza Theatre’s Community Open House and Block Party this upcoming Saturday in Palm Springs! ARG was contracted in 2022 to be the prime architect for Plaza Theatre’s historic restoration. The rehabilitation of the venerable Palm Springs venue balanced several key goals: Equipping the theatre to serve the local community’s present and future performance aspirations, while also striving to restore the historic character and charm of its original design. The free event will feature tours, live performances, and a festive street fair. You don’t want to miss it! The LA Times caught up with ARG’s Liz Grace MacLean and Norton Simon Museum’s Leslie Denk and Emily Talbot to discuss the museum’s recent renovation — including the meticulous restoration of its beloved Heath tile façade, a new pedestrian-friendly entrance sequence, and an enhanced sculpture garden designed with climate resiliency, accessibility, and acoustics in mind. Come meet us by the expanded café or new cascade sometime soon! Read more about Norton Simon below. https://lnkd.in/gAYF9hBf #NortonSimonMuseum #LATimes #ARG #ArchitecturalResourcesGroup

Attending The Association for Preservation Technology International (APT) Conference in Rhode Island next week? Make sure to catch Principal Maya Foty, AIA, LEED AP presentation on The Thompson Elk Fountain: Bringing Water Back to Downtown Portland, OR. The presentation will describe the project that undertook the reinstallation of the elk statue and fountain to its original location, including: technology to convert a gravity fed fountain to one fed by a recirculating pump, and the infrastructure required to support that, saving an estimated 780 gallons per hour; the repair and reinstallation of existing granite; the fabrication of new massive granite units with stone carving and finishes to match historic; and upgrading the fountain and statue components to meet current seismic standards in a high risk zone with the use of various types of hidden embedments. #APTAnnualConference #ARG #ArchitecturalResourcesGroup

This past weekend, our team participated in the annual Leap - Arts In Education Sandcastle Classic at Ocean Beach in San Francisco — a tradition that brings together design and construction industry professionals to build epic sand sculptures while supporting arts education in Bay Area schools. We spent the day prepping and sculpting these sandcastles as professionals, students, teachers, and parents experienced a true celebration of collaboration and community. Huge thanks to LEAP for organizing such a fun and meaningful event. Shoutout to the Pixel Pandas! 🏖️ Pullman Services Farrell Design-Build Companies, Inc. Quezada Architecture Allsteel

ARG staff attended the historic landmark plaque unveiling for the StylesVille Barbershop & Beauty Salon this past weekend. Located in Pacoima in the San Fernando Valley, StylesVille was established in 1958 by Fred and Ollie Carter. Due to discriminatory housing practices, Pacoima was one of the few places in the San Fernando Valley that African Americans could live and own businesses in the early and mid-20th century. StylesVille continues to be owned by the Carter family and is operated by Fred and Ollie’s grandson, Greg Faucet. It is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) Black-owned barbershops in the San Fernando Valley. ARG was hired by the City of Los Angeles and the Getty to prepare the Historic-Cultural Monument nomination for StylesVille as part of the African American Historic Places, Los Angeles (AAHPLA) project, which seeks to honor and preserve the city’s Black heritage. Other sites designated under the AAHPLA project include St. Elmo Village, the Tom and Ethel Bradley Residence, Jewel’s Catch One, the California Eagle offices, and New Bethel Baptist Church. We are honored to be part of this important project! #StylesVille #HistoricCulturalMonument #ARG #ArchitecturalResourcesGroup

Honored to be a part of the team! Omgivning Architecture / Interiors ARG served as the historic consultant for the Harrower Laboratory project, which qualified for federal and state historic rehabilitation tax credits.
On Saturday October 4th, Omgivning was honored to receive the 2025 Preservation Award from The Glendale Historical Society for Harrower Village, a project that transformed a 1920s medical campus into affordable housing for seniors. Originally designed by Alfred Priest, the Beaux Arts campus once housed the laboratory and clinic of Dr. Henry Harrower, a leading figure in endocrinology. Nearly a century later, it stands renewed, bridging history and community impact through affordable housing and design that honors its legacy. This achievement reflects the collective vision and leadership of Abode Communities and the City of Glendale, with preservation and design collaboration from Architectural Resources Group (ARG), structural design by Labib Funk + Associates (LFA), SALT Landscape Architects, KILLEFER FLAMMANG ARCHITECTS (KFA) as Entitlements Architect, and Omgivning Architecture / Interiors as Architect of Record. At Omgivning, the project was led by Joel Chappo , Project Manager and Architect, along with Peter Rindelaub , Lauren Sanchez, Taylor Carlin (Taylor Waters) and other team members who helped guide the work from concept to completion. We’re grateful to The Glendale Historical Society for recognizing Harrower Village and for honoring projects that celebrate the continued life of historic places and their role in today’s communities. #Omgivning #HarrowerVillage #GlendaleHistoricalSociety #PreservationAward #AdaptiveReuse #HistoricPreservation #AffordableHousing #SeniorHousing #CommunityDesign #Architecture #InteriorDesign #ReuseRenewReimagine
