  • Europe is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by the need for greater strategic autonomy in a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape. At the heart of this shift are “technological catalysts”: innovative companies that go beyond traditional IT, reshaping Europe’s industrial, energy, health, and defense sectors. Unlike the classic Silicon Valley tech giants, these firms are embedded in strategic sectors like green tech, biotechnology, and cybersecurity. They are not just disruptors, but enablers of systemic change, helping Europe build resilience and independence. Christophe Hautin & Julien Burki, CFA explain how technological catalysts are driving innovation & European autonomy and how investors could tap into opportunities now ⬇️ 🔗 Download pdf: https://ow.ly/qL8Z50XvEHQ

  • Thanksgiving in the US isn’t just a holiday: it’s a numbers game. With over 45 million turkeys and 1.4 billion pounds of meat on the menu, the only thing bigger than the feast is the collective food coma that follows. Will more calories be consumed than burned? Absolutely. Find out what this means for markets, consumers, and the holiday season in our latest “The Week Ahead” by Sean Shepley ⬇️ 🔗 Download the pdf: https://ow.ly/7iWP50XuNqK

  • What happens when bright minds meet real-world investment expertise? Earlier this month, we opened our Frankfurt doors to students from Mannheim University for an inspiring morning of learning, discussion, and networking at Allianz Global Investors. Steffen Winterholler kicked things off with “AGI in a Nutshell”: our global footprint, structure, and early-career opportunities. Dr. Hans-Joerg Naumer sparked a lively debate on “Kapitalismus – Populismus – Demokratie”, connecting global populism trends with historical market data. Roxane Zander shared her experience in our 16-month Graduate Program and its cross-functional rotations. Maren Ebert, CFA, explained the multi-asset portfolio management value chain and current market dynamics. Stephanie Schmück gave students a behind-the-scenes look at our global trading setup and Frankfurt trading floor. We wrapped up with a networking lunch, bridging academic knowledge with real-world practice and inspiring the next generation of professionals. A big thank you to all presenters and the AKB Women in Business for making this day special! Ready to shape the future of investing? Explore our career opportunities: 🔗 https://ow.ly/LZjS50XuMKy

*Driving the Energy Transition: How Private Markets Are Powering Change Private markets investors are taking advantage of a spectrum of energy transition investment opportunities, across areas such as electrified transport, renewable energy, power grids and energy storage, as well as investments into more carbon-intensive assets to support the decarbonisation process. In this paper we have outlined an energy transition spectrum comprised of three categories of business activities for considering energy transition contribution: 🔸  𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Activities that provide environmental solutions (eg, renewables, storage and supporting services, electric mobility, green hydrogen and derivatives, and biogas using low- carbon feedstock). 🔸 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Activities contributing through business transformation and transition. Although currently more carbon-intensive, these may enable significant emissions reductions at a systems-level or have a positive contribution over time while decarbonising (eg, high efficiency cogeneration of heat/cooling and power from fossil gaseous fuels, low-carbon hydrogen and derivatives). 🔸 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬-𝐚𝐬-𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥: Activities that are “business-as-usual” (eg, combined cycle gas turbines, grey hydrogen, and data centres that are not aligned with EU Taxonomy or equivalent standards). These are not considered contributing to the energy transition. We believe that setting out a clear and structured approach to investing in energy transition is an essential part of our role as an asset manager for guiding our clients’ investments within this theme. 🔗 Download pdf: https://ow.ly/b53A50XqUmA #impact #energytransition | Diane Mak
