For the design phase, I have good experience starting without a framework. Find time and space for Senior decision makers (maybe an offsite?) to discuss what the future should look like. Start with an empty whiteboard. For implementation: start lean and be agile, still manage it holistically. 1. Lean startup/Agile Methodology: avoid the bing bang transformation. For me "Lean Startup" in this context means plant a seed (transformation team with first use case) and enable it to do rapid, iterative development cycles. Gradually it will roll out over the entire company. 2. Change Management: transformations touch tools, processes, roles, responsibilities and even the culture of a company. Be agile but still keep tight implementation control.

I love a SWOT analysis. We use it to consolidate the insights from other tools, like PESTLE for macro impacts, Porters 5 forces for market competitiveness, and the happy line for our customers. Take your SWOT to another level by giving weighting to each of the items, it makes a difference.

SWOT is a great starter. I use this in the initial phase of the transformation. SWOT gives the opportunities, strengths, and weaknesses as well. Those really help the team identify - What could be the quick win - What could be long-term win - What could be loses To make the SWOT better my tips will also include the weighting of all the items and map that with probabilities.

This (Business Model Canvas) is one of my favourite Go-To strategy enablement frameworks because it has such a great balance between structure, focus, creativity and decision orientation. It provides a simple structure without overheads where the leadership, strategy and transformation teams can brainstorm, challenge, validate, decide and arrive at a comprehensive agreement on what the strategic direction should be and the strong/weak areas and risks. The BMC, and alternatively the VRIO framework both provide excellent early stage strategy frameworks. This can be followed by design thinking and/or discovery workshops to start fleshing it and developing the agreed strategy.

The thing which we can see, we can always rethink about that. So that clearly opens our opportunity to take that to the better version with less effort. That's exactly what Business model Canvas can do! When someone wants to build a product or business or just want to improve the Business model canvas is a great tool to build a lot of prototype solutions which can save lots of time from going down a long path of failure.

Visual tools make a big difference in gaining alignment to a change, the critical factor is co-creation, as anyone who is not on the journey is likely to struggle to see the story.

I have been an early adopter of Agile since 2010 and I was doing research. So based on my long experience working on agile here are some truths that I would like to share 1. Agile is great for a startup environment or building a product 2. Dont ignore knowledge management and documentation as companies often have an employee turnover of more than 20% per year 3. Have a scorecard or check to show the progress to report to the management as 4. Don't use agile to save cost as a priority reason. Focus more on flexibility and adaptability, rather than just a way to reduce the cost of developing a product/service. 5. Do standups but also don't ignore the stakeholder management when you are working on a business transformation initiative.

The Agile Methodology is a fantastic set of frameworks to facilitate a balance of speed and flexibility in translating strategy to tangible value via iterative, short cycle execution. What has been interesting in my experience is that over the past 5-7 years, I have seen agility being used in non-IT areas such as Marketing, Finance and even HR practices. Remember, though, that agility is purely a supporting act in transformation, and not the main focus. Agile supports business - it doesn't drive business. There have been situations where the love of what I call the "Agile rule-book" has interfered with the need to take pragmatic business decisions.

We hear the word agile and we think of it as a real buzzword these days, the concept sprung up and everyone "adopted" it and tried to force it into as much as possible, so for most of us we are burnt out on the concept The Agile Methodology really does have its place for certain circumstances, its great to use when we don't know how to get to where we are going and enables progress to be made by doing short bursts of activity and then regrouping, it helps people to deal with the "Blank Sheet" of paper where they don't know where to start and what to do next But, you need to know where you are going and what outcomes you are trying to achieve! Tasks for tasks sake just create busy work, we need measurable objectives to keep focused

A change-skeptic until I started leading people, I realised that any meaningful improvement is possible ONLY with organic adoption of the change by people. It isn't rocket science and you don't need a brain surgeon to do it. But the basics: 1) Strong, positive vision 2) Enthusiastic, committed sponsors 3) Engaging stakeholders for buy-in 4) Addressing Change Impact 5) Top notch comms strategy 6) Inclusive resistance management 7) Training, Coaching, Mentoring 8) Transition plan for BAU 9) Benefits realization 10) Morale, motivation, energy .. these are always going to be critical in landing meaningful change.

For me, design thinking is an excellent tool for the following aspects - Identify an opportunity for product/service - Developing a product/service - Improving a product/service There are a few challenges on the way as well. - Requires a great facilitator - Using a design thinking training session for the business leader is far less useful than having a design thinking facilitator running the session. - Business leaders who are in the business often have a mindset that is counterproductive for the design thinking approach. That's why having the facilitator is the key - Include a scorecard (for example - Hoshin Kanri) to keep track of the direction.

Most of the tools mentioned here are useful to address the "how" of business transformation, not the "what" - what you want your business to become, I mean. SWOT may give you some food for thought on roads to explore to build your vision on the transformation you want, but there's definitely a this fundamental step of defining what you're fighting for that's instrumental for success.
