Codex hangs inside VS Code

Codex hangs inside VS Code after rotating the OpenAI API key with the error message "Unknown MCP notification: codex/event/user_message ...". It was working just fine prior to that. Wondering if anyone has similar issue or have a suggestion. Tried to re-install Codex extension and other troubleshooting. No luck. Thanks!

In terminal:

try codex logout or delete ~/.codex/auth.json and codex login again.

Amazing! I deleted this file ~/.codex/auth.json, there still was an old API key in it. When I opened VS Code and Codex was prompting me to log in with either one option - ChatGPT account or API key. BTW, prior to this deletion, there was no option to sign out or re-login. Maybe you can note that. I am back in business. Thanks for your help!!!
