Bad Requst - Invalid Hostname

I can't get this sample to work - I've created the AWS pool and client, both manually and with CloudFormation -
I only get:

Bad Request - Invalid Hostname
HTTP Error 400. The request hostname is invalid.

Really struggling with this, any help would be appreciated!

the README.md has an error in the suggested appsettings.json

"AllowedHosts":"\\*",

Should not include the double slash! should be like this:

"AllowedHosts":"*",
