Happy new year from the team at Upward Trend! One of the things Hedge Fund candidates often ask us is how to format their LinkedIn profile. 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗹𝘆, 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲. It's the most comprehensive database of Hedge Fund candidates available, and pretty much everyone from CIOs down to interns is on here. When you apply for a role, your LinkedIn profile will be checked by several people in the chain. So it's worth getting it right. 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗩/𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲. You don't need to go into as much detail on key achievements, responsibilities, and extracurricular activities. But what makes a good LinkedIn profile is including enough information that people can understand who you are and what you do. That will maximise your chances of being on the right people's radar. Include brief (one- or two-line) factual descriptions for each role you've held. List what strategies, asset classes, sectors, programming languages, and so on that you have specialised in. Bullet points are fine. 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻, so think about what keywords a hiring manager or recruiter might use to find you, and work back from that to include it in your profile page. Highlight anything that might be relevant to your future career progression. For example, if you currently run a book or sub-book, or if you have been promoted internally. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.
