  • Today we've unveiled a set of classic stamps of the Victorian era - with a unique additional feature. The set brings together eight classic stamps issued during the reign of Queen Victoria For the first time in the modern stamp programme, this set includes a unique feature: a watermark image printed on the reverse of each stamp, echoing the original security design from when they were first issued. The stamps and a range of collectible products are available to pre-order from today here: https://lnkd.in/ez4AD4PZ From the groundbreaking Penny Black of 1840, the world’s first adhesive postage stamp, to later classics such as the Penny Red, Penny Lilac, and the elegant 4d ‘Jubilee’ of 1887, the collection charts the evolution of British philately during Queen Victoria’s reign, which transformed communication forever. Each stamp features her unmistakable profile, a constant presence throughout more than six decades on the throne. The main set includes eight 1st Class stamps: • Penny Black (1840) • Twopenny Blue (1841), 6d embossed (1854) and 4d first letterpress (1855) • 1s small letters (1862) and Penny Red (1864) • Penny Lilac (1881) and 4d ‘Jubilee’ (1887) Together, these stamps tell the story of a period defined by progress, invention and a monarch whose image became synonymous with the very act of sending a letter. Accompanying the main set is a miniature sheet containing four stamps inspired by Queen Victoria’s personal passion for photography. Featuring four evocative portraits of the monarch, they offer an intimate glimpse of the life and image of a queen whose likeness became emblematic of an empire. The photographs shown in each of these stamps show Queen Victoria at different stages of her reign — from a young queen in the 1850s to the dignified matriarch of empire in her later years. Alongside the stamps sits a striking portrait of Victoria, framed in a decorative border that reflects the artistry of the age.

Today, Citizens Advice ranked Royal Mail first in its parcels league table for the fourth year running. It’s a result we’re proud of, reflecting the progress we’ve made in giving customers more convenient ways to send, return and collect parcels. Customer needs are changing fast, and we’re responding by expanding our multi-channel shop and locker network. We now operate more than 24,000 parcel points, the UK’s largest out-of-home network, including shops, lockers and parcel postboxes. Our ambition is to grow this to 45,000 locations by 2030, bringing parcel points within a five-minute walk in urban areas and a 15-minute drive in rural communities. And as we head into Christmas, our teams across the UK are ready for the busiest weeks of the year. We’re bringing in extra people, opening additional parcel sorting centres and putting more vans on the road to deliver for everyone, everywhere.

  • Etsy has become the first online marketplace to offer our new services to send to the USA, following new customs requirements that came into effect on 29 August. Our postal delivery duties paid (PDDP) services are now available directly on the Etsy platform for all sellers. We were the first international postal operator to launch a new service following the US executive order in July, which stated that goods valued at $800 or less would no longer be exempt from import duties and taxes. With just a few exceptions, all goods entering the USA attract duties which need to be paid to the US Customs Authorities, a process handled by Royal Mail. This is a change to the previous rules where all goods under a value of $800 could enter the US duty free. Find out more at: http://ms.spr.ly/6049tRBHb

  • We've launched a new fleet of over 100 micro electric vehicles (MEVs), in a major step forward to both reduce carbon emissions and boost delivery speeds. The first MEV was unveiled at Saturday’s Lady Mayor’s Show in London. In the coming weeks, 104 MEVs will be rolled out in London, Bristol, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Solihull, Brighton and the Scilly Isles, just in time for the peak Christmas period. Replacing 52 larger vans, the MEV fleet is expected to save around 242 tonnes of carbon emissions annually and improve local air quality, while also making delivery rounds more efficient. Unlike standard electric vans, MEVs can be plugged into a regular three-pin plug socket for charging. Read more at: http://ms.spr.ly/6042tOEda

Today, we announced our results for the first half of 2025-26. Martin Seidenberg, Group Chief Executive Officer, said: “IDS delivered another solid performance in the first half of the year. Customer needs are changing faster than ever and we’re responding by rapidly expanding our multi-channel shop and locker network across Royal Mail and GLS. We’ve set ourselves the ambitious target to reach 45,000 Royal Mail parcel points by 2030 and will continue to grow GLS parcel points to make life even more convenient for our customers worldwide. “I’d like to thank our people for continuing to build on our momentum. We never underestimate the important role we play at Christmas, and we’re hiring more people, opening temporary parcel sorting centres and putting more vans on the road to deliver for our customers again this year.” Read the full report and watch the highlights below ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/edPehEgk

  • With just over six weeks to go until Christmas, we're once again lending a helping hand to one of our most special customers, Santa. For over 60 years, we've been helping to make Christmas wishes come true by sending children’s letters to the North Pole. Now Santa’s team of helpers at Royal Mail is gearing up to deliver the hundreds of thousands of letters sent to him by children from all across the UK. Santa is happy to receive cards and letters now, but because of the very busy Christmas ahead, letters should be posted no later than Wednesday 10 December 2025, using a stamped envelope and sent to the following address: Santa/Father Christmas, Santa’s Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ And for the first time this year British Sign Language (BSL) letters will also be available. The letters will feature a QR code, which, when scanned provides access to a signed version the greeting. BSL Santa letters can be requested by emailing santamail@royalmail.com Read more at: http://ms.spr.ly/6041tMjXx
