We provide more than 400 difference services to our 260,000 residents and our population continuing to rise. Hull is a great place to live, learn, work, study, visit and invest. In Hull we are proud of our free museums, Ferens Art Gallery and Hull History Centre, which togther welcome 1.35 million visitors in 2017. As Yorkshire's Maritime City, we are developing an extensive redevelopment of our significant historic maritime assets to support our asipiration of creating a world-class visitor destination. Since 2013 there has been almost £3bn of private and public investment in the city, including £300m investment in cultural infrastructure, the £80m regeneration of the Fruit Market and the £25m public realm improvements. The recent review of the council ward boundaries by the Local Government Boundary Commission (LGBC) will see a reduction in the number of wards and councillors. Following the local elections in May, the city will be represented by 57 councillors, two less that there are now and have 21 wards, two less that there are now following the local elections. These three simple steps take a few minutes – but could save you £££ in the long run – and stop a criminal from entering your home. If you don’t check who you pay to take your rubbish away, you could be responsible for your stuff being fly-tipped and face a fine yourself. Now that’s a #RubbishDeal

Residents, businesses and property owners of Princes Avenue Conservation Area are invited to help shape its future by taking part in a public consultation. Community feedback will be taken from today, Wednesday 19 November, following resurvey results which assessed how the conservation area has changed in the last 20 years. A new character appraisal and management plan (CAMP) has been proposed, providing management guidance on how the area’s special interests can be preserved or enhanced. Some parts of Princes Avenue have been identified as vulnerable due to negative changes, and the resurvey seeks to ensure that these are stopped and that the architectural value of Princes Avenue preserved and enhanced. In contrast, 80 Princes Avenue has been identified as being one of the best-preserved shop fronts along the street and is being proposed for addition to the Hull Local Heritage List. The survey is part of Hull City Council’s project to update and adopt CAMPs for all 26 of its conservation areas. The council is now beyond halfway of the process, with Princes Avenue being the 14th area to have been resurveyed. Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, the council’s portfolio holder for economic renewal, housing and organisational development, said: “Princes Avenue is one of Hull’s most popular areas for socialising. “As it continues to move forward with the ever-changing hospitality sector, it is important that we recognise the area’s heritage and ensure that buildings are preserved correctly. “We’ve had great feedback from the public in previous consultations and the council looks forward to similar once again.” The public consultation is now open until Monday 12 January 2026. A drop-in session will take place a Princes Avenue Methodist Church, 91 Princes Avenue, HU5 3QP, on Monday 1 December from 3-7pm. Site notices are being displayed in the area and letters have been issued to businesses on Princes Avenue. Full details, as well as the consultation documents, are available at: https://lnkd.in/eHFdpbac

Residents in Hull are invited to take part in the second Adult Social Care Annual Conversation with People. If you want to learn more about adult social care, share feedback on your experience, and help shape care services – this event is for you. This year’s event will take place at The Guildhall, on Thursday 4 December, from 11am to 2pm, and is open to all Hull residents. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day. The 2025 Annual Conversation will take the form of a marketplace-style event, with teams from across adult social care hosting stalls, sharing information and giving people the opportunity to ask questions. You can meet staff members, learn more about the services available, and find out how people can access support for themselves or loved ones. Councillor Linda Chambers, portfolio holder for adult services and Public Health, said: “This is your opportunity to speak directly with adult social care staff members and share your thoughts about local services. The Annual Conversation is designed to make it easy for residents to meet the teams, ask questions, and help Hull City Council understand how to continue to improve support across the city.” The event is part of Hull City Council’s commitment to listening to residents and ensuring services reflect the needs and experiences of the people they support. By taking part, residents can help influence positive changes and contribute to how adult social care develops in the future. For more information, or to ask any questions, please email Adultsdd@hullcc.gov.uk. Your voice matters – come along and help influence adult social care in Hull.

A routine inspection will take place on Hessle Road flyover later this month, to ensure its continued safety and reliability. Hull City Council’s bridges team will be carrying out a principal inspection on the Hessle Road flyover, which crosses the railway lines operated by Network Rail. These inspections are a vital part of maintaining the city’s transport infrastructure and are conducted every six years to assess structural integrity and safety. To minimise disruption, and to keep traffic flowing, the inspection will be completed overnight across two consecutive weekends: ▪️ Westbound road closure from 00:30am until 5am on Sunday 23 November ▪️ Eastbound road closure from 11pm on Saturday 29 November until 6am on Sunday 30 November During these periods, signed diversion routes and traffic management will be in place to ensure the safety of the engineers and the travel public. The findings from this inspection will feed into the development of the structure’s future strengthening and repair scheme. Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at the council, said: “Routine inspections like this are vital for maintaining the safety and reliability of our transport infrastructure. “Our bridges team are working hard to keep the flyover operational whilst we plan for future strengthening works, which will ensure the flyover’s long-term resilience. “I’m pleased that this inspection has been scheduled overnight, across two consecutive weekends, to reduce the impact on road users and pedestrians. “However, I appreciate that this is still going to cause some disruption and thank everyone for their patience.” For more information about Hessle Road flyover, visit https://lnkd.in/eASYhhP2

Fly-tipping isn’t just ugly, it’s expensive. Across the country, the bill comes to over £100 million. Money that could be spent on: 🏫 Schools 🌳 Parks 📚 Libraries Every time rubbish is dumped illegally, it’s our local communities that ultimately pay the price. Say NO to rogue operators. Say YES to protecting the areas we live in. If you ever see fly-tipping in your neighbourhood, help us tackle it by reporting it here: https://lnkd.in/e6KGEj5d
