About us
Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We are committed to ending homelessness. Every day we see the devastating impact homelessness has on people’s lives. Every year we work side by side with thousands of homeless people, to help them rebuild their lives and leave homelessness behind for good. Through our pioneering research into the causes and consequences of homelessness and the solutions to it, we know what it will take to end it. Together with others who share our resolve, we bring our knowledge, experience and determination to campaign for the changes that will solve the homelessness crisis once and for all. We bring together a unique volunteer effort each Christmas, to bring warmth, companionship and vital services to people at one of the hardest times of the year, and offer a starting point out of homelessness. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.

This week we visited the People's Postcode Lottery headquarters in Edinburgh to mark the incredible milestone: £20 million in total funding raised by players to support our work ending homelessness. Thanks to them we've been able to fund professional psychological support for members; renovate our centres to make them more welcoming and provide better facilities; help companies building eco-friendly homes and converting empty properties and host of other projects. To celebrate, Crisis members created a powerful piece of artwork representing how this support helps people experiencing homelessness move towards a postcode of their very own. We’re hugely grateful to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for their longstanding trust and belief in our mission. Your support truly changes lives. 🏆 We’re thrilled that the Brent SHPS Refugee Housing & Integration Service has been named a winner in the #LondonHomelessnessAwards 2025! A huge shout out to our partners Brent Council and Crisis for their invaluable collaboration and commitment in designing and delivering the Single Homelessness Prevention Service for #refugees. Together, we’ve built a programme that not only provides safe housing, but also supports refugees to rebuild their lives and integrate into their new community with dignity and #hope. Urgent: Temperatures are falling, dropping to zero across the country last night. Freezing, dark and stuck on the streets with no shelter from the bitter cold – these are the realities that thousands experiencing homelessness have to face this winter. Freezing temperatures across the UK can be life threatening for those of us who don’t have a safe, warm home to go to. But you can help. Please, if you can, support Crisis at Christmas today to help make shelter, warm food, clothing and support available to everyone who needs it: https://bit.ly/4odLZNu

Say it with us - Dear Chancellor: unfreeze housing benefit now. Today in Westminster we came together with 15 other organisations calling on Rachel Reeves to restore housing benefit to match the true cost of rent at next week’s Autumn Budget. Right now, people who rely on housing benefit are being let down. Rents have soared while housing benefit has been frozen, pushing thousands deeper into poverty, homelessness and ill health. Next week’s budget is the Chancellor’s opportunity to help millions of us keep the safe home we need for a healthy life. Urge her to take this opportunity and restore housing benefit. Email her now: https://bit.ly/429aN0z This campaign is supported by Health Equals. We were joined today by Centrepoint, Generation Rent, Homeless Link, Independent Age, Shelter, Shelter Cymru, St Martin in the Fields Charity, St Mungo's, Switchback, YMCA, Z2K, Health Equals, Single Homelessness Project (SHP), Just Life and Shared Health.

The realities of homelessness at this time of year are severe. And with over 300,000 individuals and families across Great Britain facing the worst forms of homelessness, the problem is growing. But over Christmas – and beyond – we’re here. We can make this Christmas someone’s first day of a life out of homelessness, but we need your help. Please, give what you can to Crisis at Christmas this year: https://bit.ly/4oD8ZpP
