Earlier this month, we hosted our Fit for Renewal Clinic in London – a dedicated session for Reinsurance Underwriters to sharpen strategies and share best practices ahead of the upcoming renewal season. With contributions from Nicola Stacey ACII, Chief Underwriting Officer, and Angus Milgate, Head of Distribution, the event was all about sharing knowledge and strengthening partnerships. A highlight of the day was our interactive clinic sessions. These provided six focused slots where attendees could dive deep into renewal tactics, ask tailored questions, and gain practical insights from our experts. This hands-on approach ensured participants left with actionable strategies to optimise their renewal outcomes and deliver greater value to clients. We’re delighted announce that David Smith has been promoted to group head of claims at Chaucer Group, effective from the 1st of January 2026. With over 35 years' experience, David has been integral to Chaucer’s claims success. Having joined us as a member of our underwriting teams, David moved into claims as an adjuster, then into deputy claims manager, before being appointed head of first party claims in 2016. David has worked closely with Chaucer’s current head of claims, Tony Gates, who we can announce will retire at the end of the year. Under Tony’s leadership, our claims team have become a market leading service rated 'Outstanding' for 9 consecutive years by Gracechurch. His work in delivering exceptional service to our clients will continue to be greatly appreciated. We wish Tony all the best in his well-deserved retirement and look forward to seeing David continue the success of our claims team in the future. #WeFindAWay
