Join us at SEMICON Europa 2025, taking place in Munich, Germany from 18–21 November. Join us at Booth C1137. The team is ready to discuss our Specialty Stainless Steel Processes (S³P), featuring Kolsterising® technology, which hardens stainless steel without coatings while maintaining the critical cleanroom compatibility required by the semiconductor industry. Kolsterising® offers a unique combination of benefits: ✅ Prevents particle generation, ensuring cleanroom conditions ✅ Achieves surface hardness up to 1200 HV (~72 HRc) ✅ Retains excellent corrosion resistance ✅ Preserves non-magnetic properties Learn more about Kolsterising®: https://lnkd.in/gZiJN24 Learn more about S³P: https://lnkd.in/eFGz-n_u

🌉 This #MetalMonday, let's travel back in time to the Industrial Revolution, a period that changed the world. The star of this era? Cast iron. Cast iron is an alloy of iron that contains 2-4% carbon, along with varying amounts of silicon and manganese and traces of impurities such as sulphur and phosphorus, it is made by reducing iron ore in a blast furnace. This versatile metal helped to spur industrial innovation, leading to the construction of the first iron bridge in 1779. The iconic Iron Bridge over the River Severn in Shropshire, England, became a symbol of technological advancement and the use of metals in new, previously unimaginable ways. The bridge was so successful that it gave its name to the spectacular wooded valley which surrounds it, now recognised as the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. Cast iron was favoured for its ability to bear heavy loads and span long distances, paving the way for modern architecture and engineering. It was used in buildings, railways, and machinery, laying the foundations for the modern world. #engineering #architecture #history #metalwork #metallurgy

𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 Thermal processing is an important process used in producing wind turbine components to improve their mechanical properties and increase their durability. One example of heat treatment in wind turbines is in the gearboxes, which are a critical component of the powertrain system that converts the rotational motion of the turbine blades into electrical power. Gearboxes are typically made from high-strength steel alloys and are subjected to various mechanical stresses and loads during operation. The heat treatment processes modify the microstructure of the metal, improving its mechanical properties, such as strength, toughness, and resistance to fatigue. This increases the durability and reliability of the gearbox components, reducing the risk of component failure and improving the overall efficiency of the wind turbine. #sustainability #renewableenergy #windpower #turbines #environment #heattreatment
