  • Sarah Gibson & Nicholas Karlovasitis leave uni, cram a fledgling furniture brand into a Newtown flat, and decide they are going to export Australian design to the world. That is the starting point for DESIGN BY THEM. In this episode we unpack how fifteen years later, they're actually pulling it off. Our favourite line might be this: “The best invoices we pay are the royalties that go to other designers.” That tells you everything about how they think. If you care about turning design from a side project into a viable brand, this one is worth your time. Watch now: https://lnkd.in/e7D-Tz-f

  • What do you say to the AI haters? The people who think that AI is paper thin... "Let the design speak", says Rada Daleva, project lead at Studio Tim Fu. “I enjoy designing more with AI. It’s making the early stages more human centred... We are the ones who have to define the new value we assign to ourselves.” Full episode live now. Come away with practical ways to use AI in concept design and better client communication from someone at the leading edge of AI design. Watch it here: https://lnkd.in/egY_DNtc

  • Exciting week here at Bespoke Sydney...   Ryan Barton has just been granted Australian permanent residency!   We’re over the moon for him (and for us).   If you work in the architecture industry in Sydney, chances are you’ll have heard of Ryan. Since joining Bespoke in 2017, he’s built relationships with just about everyone. Few people understand this market and its people like he does.   Ryan studied landscape architecture at the Manchester School of Architecture, worked in Shenzhen and with Plincke in the UK, then made Sydney home, recruiting across architecture, landscape and urban design.   Nearly nine years on, Ryan’s officially an Aussie.   Big congrats mate! 🇬🇧➡️🇦🇺

  • Rada Daleva, project lead at Studio Tim Fu has risen fast in the architecture world by leaning into new tech. "AI is enabling younger people to grow faster and gain experience early which will be valuable later. Our team is full of young curious fast learners. We also collaborate with local experienced architects and teams especially in later stages and on the built environment." Rada doesn't see AI as stealing the creative work from humans. She says it's made her more creative, breaking her out of familiar patterns and keeping momentum high. The human touch is still central. In their studio, they all use the same AI-powered tools, but you can still tell who designed what. Each designer brings their own backgrounds, style and influence which comes through in their work. For those wondering if AI will hollow out the profession, Rada's answer is measured: there will always be a place for traditional architecture, but right now, those who are evolving with the tools are leading the charge. This conversation gives an honest and pragmatic view of AI in design, from someone who is at the leading edge. Would love to hear what you think. Let us know! • A few times in a generation, a piece of technology comes along that changes everything. The internet, smart phones, or if you’re an architect, CAD and BIM. Now, we have AI to add to that list. But can our profession embrace this, move forward, or even absorb another push for efficiency without hollowing out our expertise or having to question our real value now or in the future? We wanted to find out the answers to these questions and more. So we spoke to Rada Daleva, project lead at Studio Tim Fu, the leading AI-first architecture firm working with real clients on real projects and making real money. This studio is at the vanguard of what our future could look like, and that debut, commissioned at Lake Bled in Slovenia, is billed as the first fully AI driven architecture project.
