It's simple to move a Nest camera or doorbell to a different spot in your home and give it a new location name. But it's more complex to move a camera to a different home or country, especially if you have a Google Home Premium subscription.
To move your camera or doorbell to a different location and connect to the same Wi-Fi network:
- Disconnect your camera or doorbell from power if needed.
- Remove any screws and mounting plates.
- Take your camera or doorbell to its new location.
- Turn your camera on.
- Connect it to power if needed.
- Your device will automatically try to reconnect to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Hold your device exactly where it will be mounted and check the video stream with the app.
- Test the Wi-Fi connection.
- If you don't see video or the video is low quality, adjust the location until you get a good connection.
- If that doesn't help, learn how to troubleshoot wireless interference.
- Reinstall your camera or doorbell with the same screws and mounting accessories.
Tip: You can update your camera or doorbell's location name with the Google Home app or Nest app.
Important: If you change your network name and password, or get a new Wi-Fi router, you'll need to update your Nest camera's or doorbell's settings
Connect your router to the Internet with the same network name and password that you used before. When you power on your Nest camera or doorbell, it will automatically connect to your Wi-Fi network.

You can move a camera or doorbell from one home to another in the Google Home app or Nest app:
- Remove the camera or doorbell from your account in the app.
- Choose the new home that you want to add it to.
- Follow your device's setup instructions.
We do not recommend using your Nest camera in a country other than where it was purchased.
- If you have a Google Home Premium subscription, moving to a different country can cause complications with billing and services.
- Nest cameras and doorbells are optimised to work best with specific Wi-Fi standards of the country where they were sold. Your device might experience decreased performance if you use it in a different country, and it might not comply with regulations there.
Follow the instructions included in the box or in the app for your camera, doorbell or mounting accessory.
