At Compass Group Australia, we believe economic empowerment is a cornerstone of reconciliation. This year, we’re proud to have achieved $24.5 million in Indigenous procurement, a 26% increase from last year and well above our previous benchmark. We’ve partnered with more than 50 Indigenous suppliers, from long-standing collaborators like Djinda Produce, renowned for supplying high-quality, fresh produce to West Australian businesses, to exciting new ventures. These include collaborations with Indigenous leaders to incubate businesses such as Tarni Resources and Iluka’s Hospitality, creating remote transport solutions and employment pathways across the Pilbara region. This year also marked the launch of SEED, our dedicated incubation program that supports small Indigenous businesses through onboarding and certification, transforming informal support into structured opportunity. “Procurement is more than a commercial function; it’s a vehicle for social impact. By integrating Indigenous businesses into our operations, we foster inclusive growth, strengthen local economies, and honour cultural heritage.” - Social Procurement Steering Committee We can’t wait to share more updates throughout this journey. As we continue to advance our Planet Promise, conversations like this remind us that sustainability is as much about mindset as it is about metrics. Our Global Director of Sustainability, Amy Keister, recently joined chef and ocean advocate Barton Seaver to explore how food can be a force for connection, linking the health of our oceans to the well-being of people and communities everywhere. Check it out ⬇️ #PlanetPromise #NationalSeafoodMonth
As we continue to grow Compass Group’s commitment to sustainable seafood, I recently had the opportunity to speak with Barton Seaver — a chef and advocate whose work beautifully connects a sustainable food system with ocean conservation. Our conversation reminded me that sustainability is about more than numbers or goals — it’s about joy, connection, and the stories we tell through food. Every meal has the power to create small but meaningful ripple effects for our oceans, our communities, and the future we’re all shaping together. https://lnkd.in/eGXGhVUD #PlanetPromise #NationalSeafoodMonth

The shift toward data-driven and tech-enabled hospitality will definitely be one to watch in the coming year. It’s clear how these tools can elevate service through better care, quality, and experience. For us at Cashel? it’s about balance — technology as an enabler, not a replacement. You can’t replace the human touch that drives exceptional food service and hospitality of course, but you can make some parts of it easier and more efficient.

Running kitchens in the Philippines teaches you one thing fast Always have a Plan B. Typhoon? Power out. Floods? Happens every year. Let's not go too deep on that one Veg supplier offline for a week? Normal. An entire country devoid of onions, not common, but it did happen We’ve built our systems around that reality, not against it. Multiple sourcing for every key ingredient. Stock buffers that cover us for a full week of BCP Local relationships that go beyond contracts, people who’ll call you first when the roads reopen. It’s not perfect science, but it’s why our clients still get hot meals when the weather turns bad. Because in this part of the world, BCP isn't something you write and forget about. It's something to plan, train, execute, learn, and plan again. We don't freeze everything every day, just in case it rains, we're fresh, never frozen, but we have a plan for every eventuality. It’s just how you keep serving.
