Akkodis is partnering with Scaleout to accelerate secure Edge AI on rugged industrial hardware. This marks a step-change in how critical industries apply AI at the edge, turning advanced algorithms into robust, deployable capability in the field. Edge AI is rapidly shifting from experimentation to expectation, yet for many industrial companies it still isn’t deployable at scale. Akkodis Nordics, a leading Scandinavian provider of rugged embedded computing, advanced engineering and AI-driven R&D services, today announced a strategic partnership with Scaleout Systems to bring production-ready Edge AI to clients operating in the toughest conditions — from offshore energy platforms and rail infrastructure to defense and autonomous systems. The partnership combines Akkodis’ rugged industrial computing platforms, designed and tested in the Nordics for extreme environments, with Scaleout Systems’ edge-native machine learning orchestration and federated learning capabilities. The demand for Edge AI is growing fast as data volumes continue to skyrocket, and industries seek lower latency, stronger security and better resilience. - Gartner predicts that by 2025, 75% of enterprise-generated data will be created and processed outside traditional centralized data centers or cloud. - The global edge AI market size is projected to reach USD 66.47 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 21.7% from 2025 to 2030 (Grand View Research). However, deploying AI at the edge has been complex, expensive, and difficult to scale — until now. AI is accelerating at an extraordinary pace, but scaling it responsibly in mission-critical environments is another matter entirely. Our new global report, The Capability Curve 2025, based on 37,500 workers and 2,000 C-suite leaders across 31 countries, reveals a clear divide: Workers are optimistic and ready to embrace AI, yet leadership confidence in scaling AI has dropped by 20% in the past year. In Defense and Maritime, where security, resilience, cyber protection, sovereignty and time-critical decision-making define success, this confidence gap is becoming one of the biggest barriers to operationalising AI. For the Nordic defense-tech ecosystem, we see a few key priorities: - Human-in-the-loop AI is non-negotiable: 85% of workers say humans must oversee AI decisions. - Hybrid human + AI teams are already here: 50% of workers report working this way. - The bottleneck is not tools, but enablement: secure architectures, interoperability, skills, governance and responsible scale. - Edge computing, secure connectivity and rugged AI platforms will be the backbone as data moves from cloud to edge to deployed platforms.
