The IKEA Brand unites more than 200.000 co-workers and hundreds of companies with different owners all over the world. It’s one brand, but it reaches millions of hearts and homes. Our value chain is unique. It includes everything from product development, design, supply, manufacture and sales – and of course it begins and ends with our customers. The IKEA retail business is operated through a franchise system. Today, 12 different groups of companies market and sell the IKEA product range under franchise agreements with Inter IKEA Systems B.V. IKEA was founded in Sweden in 1943.

    Putting children’s rights at the heart of responsible business practices. IKEA is committed to integrating children's rights into all business operations, and we are proud to share that our partnership with UNICEF is renewed. We always aim to act in the best interest of children, and by working together through this partnership, we can strengthen our positive force, drive change at scale, and inspire others to take action. Our initial phase was centered on three key areas: family-friendly policies, children’s rights in the digital world, and a just transition. One major outcome was the development of a toolkit by UNICEF to help businesses establish family-friendly workplaces and practices that enable families and children to thrive. In this next phase, we will continue our work on family-friendly policies and children’s rights in a digital world, shift/develop our focus from just transition to climate adaptation, and dive into innovation and play. To advance climate adaptation, the partnership will pilot a country-level accelerator, demonstrating how businesses can strengthen resilience for children and communities—aligning long-term success with child well-being.     On Global #SocialEnterpriseDay, we proudly present the IKEA Social Entrepreneurship’s 7th Annual Review, highlighting our year of commitment to improving everyday life for people from vulnerable and marginalised groups. We continued to work with partners to expand our financial and non-financial support to social entrepreneurs, focusing on three key areas: inclusive employment, inclusive food and agriculture, and inclusive circularity.     Collaborating for Climate Action As COP30 kicks off in Belém, Brazil, the call for urgent climate action is louder than ever. With the proximity to the Amazon, this year’s summit brings together climate, nature, and social agendas—and a demand for real implementation. We’re here to share what we’ve learned, highlight what works (and what doesn’t), and collaborate to scale effective solutions. Business has a key role to play—and we’re committed to using our reach and influence to accelerate progress. Some recent examples of how we’re working with others to drive climate action—at IKEA and beyond are: 🌳 Investing in nature-based solutions: We have launched a new project in Brazil to support removing and storing carbon through protecting, restoring, and responsibly managing degraded and low-productive land in one of the world’s most endangered ecosystems. 🌡️ Driving collective ambition: Working with other businesses and organisations to demonstrate how private-sector leadership can support Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) through practical, scalable solutions. ☕️ Advancing responsible agriculture: Exploring the future of responsible coffee through a three-year regenerative agriculture pilot with Rainforest Alliance in Brazil’s Cerrado region, aimed at improving soil health, reducing water use, and enhancing biodiversity. 🔄 Championing a just transition: Actively contributing to global dialogues on how businesses can support a fair and equitable transition.     The next big step in smart living 💡 We’re taking the next big step in smart living, launching 21 new Matter-compatible smart home products, designed to simplify life, make technology more affordable, and better suit everyday routines. This launch marks the start of a complete rebuild of our smart home system and product range, developed from the ground up after years of testing in real homes and learning how people actually want technology to work in daily life. The result is a range that’s intuitive and easy to expand over time. The new range includes smart lighting, sensors, remote controls, and smart plugs, all built to connect seamlessly with other brands and platforms via the universal Matter standard. That means our products can interact with a wider range of devices, making it easier for customers to build a connected home across different brands. Some highlights: • Smart lighting - colour-changing and dimmable bulbs in a variety of shapes and sizes. • Sensors - motion, air quality, humidity, and water leak sensors that help support well-being and prevent damage. • Control - versatile remotes and smart plugs to make any product smarter and easier to manage. We believe technology should serve a purpose; it should make life at home easier, not more complicated.     Reforestation to scale climate action 🌳 Inter IKEA Group is launching a pioneering project in Brazil, together with BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group (TIG), to protect, restore, and responsibly manage degraded and low-productive land in the Atlantic Forest biome, one of the world's most endangered ecosystems. Bringing our focus on climate and nature together, this project is part of our commitment to removing and storing carbon from the atmosphere. We want to inspire others by showing how we can combine nature protection and restoration with economically viable forest management practices. We recognise our responsibility as a major user of wood and aim to lead by example in responsible forest management, even beyond the wood sourced for our business. The Atlantic Forest is the most degraded biome in Brazil, with only 13% of its original area remaining. With this project, we will: - Protect parts of this area to restore and enhance the natural forests or habitats. - Protect and improve the management of existing forests. - Provide sustained economic activity and job opportunities for nearby communities through commercial pine farms. TIG is one of the world's largest timberland managers with experience in large-scale forest management. They will play a crucial role in designing and executing this program with their deep expertise in delivering measurable climate impact, biodiversity protection, and long-term economic viability.     Making IKEA more affordable, accessible and sustainable for the many. Today, we announce our total IKEA retail sales figures for the financial year 2025 (FY25), of EUR 44.6 billion. We have continued to work towards transforming our business and driving growth through offering new products at lower prices. As a result, we have seen an increase in volumes, visitations, and market share. This year, we: 📍 Opened up 66 new sales locations 🔨 Introduced new production methods to reduce waste and emissions 📱 Increased e-commerce to account for 28% of our total sales 🌎 Continued to plan for expanding, including opening our first store in New Zealand in FY26, and entering Panama and Costa Rica as new markets.
