Mercor is hiring Mathematics Labeling Experts for a leading AI research lab developing advanced mathematical reasoning models and high-precision analytical capabilities. This opportunity is ideal for mathematics professionals who want to apply deep theoretical and applied mathematics expertise to support the training, evaluation, and verification of AI systems used in mathematical problem-solving, scientific reasoning, and complex computational analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and audit submitted data including prompts, solutions, final answers, references, and metadata.
• Evaluate task quality using structured turn-level and task-level rubrics (8–10 criteria) to ensure clarity, correctness, and logical consistency.
• Verify the accuracy of solutions, reasoning steps, and chain-of-thoughts; identify flaws, gaps, or inconsistencies.
• Provide concise, well-reasoned written feedback to support evaluation decisions.
• Work independently and asynchronously, following provided tools and workflows.

Qualifications

• PhD (candidate/recipient) or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a related STEM field.
• Expertise in one or more domains, including:
• Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory, Combinatorics, Probability, Graph Theory
• General reasoning tasks: summarization, open/closed Q&A, classification, multi-step reasoning
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate multi-step mathematical reasoning.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.

Role Details

• Part-time: ~20 hours per week with flexible scheduling
